Sun is Pisces, 22° 13'
Moon is Virgo, 22° 13'
As you are sure to note, the T-square between Pluto (Capricorn), Uranus (Aries) and Jupiter retrograde (Libra), is still holding on to the power play in the sky. Because of Jupiter's retrograde motion that started last month, the energies have changed somewhat with a shift to down-sizing and down-playing of situations. We may need to regroup several times as others are more likely to push back when we try to slide one by on the down low. This transit will carry through to the next full moon in April as the Sun and Moon bring up a final push to settle this power play. So, don't start thinking that the show is over, just yet.
The Sun in Pisces is opposing the Moon in Virgo with a wedge pattern formed from Pluto in Capricorn. This full moon is called the Worm Moon. The Sun is conjunct to Chiron, adding complex feelings to deal with past issues that have remained unresolved. Pluto encourages us to dwell on deep subjects. This time, it is intended to help us to get a better handle on current events. There's an element of self-improvement tied into this transit. Use some element of caution when choosing the type of improvement we seek.
Mercury is in the later degrees of Pisces where we have probably noted (or not) that our decisions feel more intuitive than planned. Another component of Mercury's transit through Pisces is that we seem more reactive to subliminal suggestions. It's the watery nature of Pisces that causes us to react more and think about it, after the fact. Mercury's square to Saturn in Sagittarius can lend itself to feelings of despair and frustration. It's the "worry" aspect that can undermine our well-being and mental health. Not too much longer and Mercury will be in Aries, where we will cognitively feel more independent and ready to take on the problems. Hang in there two more days. About nine hours after the full moon, the Moon will move into a short-lived T-square with Mercury and Saturn. This is likely to blow the lid off of a situation that we thought we had contained. Thankfully, it should be enlightening, but messy, nonetheless.
On March 4, Venus began a retrograde transit in Aries. This can bring up some confounding influences as we only deal with Venus in retrograde once every other year for little more than a month. It always seems to catch us off guard. Our feelings for others can become almost obsessive, or obtuse. Walking the relationship back through our minds is important at this point. We may have difficulty connecting with others and feel unusually lonely, when part of the issue is more about us, than it is about another. There can be a strong "us versus them" or "me versus you" feeling that interferes in our relationships.
Mars has left its home turf of Aries and moved into Taurus, which can also be disconcerting for us as we adjust to the new Mars influence. Money and possessions will seem to be an important topic around the house. How to pay the bills, and maintain what we have on less disposable income can be the start of many relationship battles. Fight the urge to just go out and spend money in order to feel better. Mars is forming an out-of-sign trine to Saturn in Sagittarius. Starting over at this point may feel fruitless, but may be what we are needing to do. If we started over prior to Mars moving into Taurus, the momentum will push us through the final stages of the aspect.
Mostly, we are working through situations that have been building over the past few months as a result of the long term square between Uranus and Pluto. We are in the final portion of this recent rendition of the square. When Pluto initiates its retrograde motion on April 20, the two planets will move far enough away from each other to finally give us some relief. That will be a time to dust ourselves off and reassess our current predicament. For now, we are in the trenches.
Spring is on the wings (fall for the southern hemisphere), to occur on March 20 and that's always a new beginning for us. Today, most of us in North America are adjusting to daylight saving time. As we gain more light in the day, it feels like we are losing an hour, somewhere. Other countries and regions may have different schedules, if they use DST.
If you normally just read the moon articles, I wanted to let you know that Lunar Living is now on a whole new server system. We have more bandwidth and hopefully, we will experience fewer site failures. We have been experimenting with using MailChimp for our newsletter Moon Alert system that crashed in February 2016. So far, the MailChimp system has been excellent, and we encourage you to re-sign up for the mail list service by clicking on the newsletter link in the menu at the top of this page. The March Equinox update can be found on the home page.
Overall, the planetary line up is a little heavier with feminine receptives during this full moon. This tends to be a more adaptive influence for us, but at the same time, we may be a little too lenient with others. We need to know when to enforce our personal boundaries. As for Element placements, we are lacking Air influence. We may be short on forethought, and reacting more than we are planning. We may be blowing right through the warning signs. Adding to this is that there is only one planet in the Fixed quality signs, that does not help us with the regrouping traits that we need. We may fail to admit our mistakes, preferring to point fingers at others. On the other hand, we are going to be more optimistic and take advantage of any opportunities that we can find.
Meditation for the March 12th Full Moon
Caution should not be mistaken for cowardice.
