Sun is Virgo, 24° 20'
Moon is Pisces, 24° 20'
This lunar eclipse of the harvest full moon is a penumbral. Some may not even notice a difference in the regions where it will be observable over most of Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. It won't be observed in the western hemisphere. As noted by Earth Sky, the "penumbral eclipse is more subtle, and more difficult to observe . . . [and] happens when the moon moves through the outer part of Earth's shadow." This eclipse belongs to the lunar saros series 147, orginating from the southern hemisphere in the 19th nodal family of eclipses.
With the Sun in Virgo and the Moon in Pisces, we may be discovering something about health, working environments or large institutions. The penumbral eclipse is not quite as power-filled as a total lunar eclipse, but there are still forces here to be acknowledged. We may be more conscientious, but also more emotionally sensitive to events. This is not a good time to strive for perfection. Admit the foibles that occur and don't be too judgy about others. With the moon's conjunction to Chiron, there may be a healing or wounding function within this eclipse. The eclipse is forming a T-square to Mars in Sagittarius, that could bring added frustrations/challenges to the transits. Some of this may surface over belief systems or a cultural crisis. No easy solutions for dealing. Try to avoid the rages that can potentially occur.
Mercury in Virgo is still motioning retrograde back through Virgo. Today it is moving over a critical degree of Virgo. Try not to be gullible as this is not a time of trustworthy situations, overall. Do real research before believing. With the trine formed to Pluto retrograde in Capricorn, we are likely to feel strongly about situations that we would normally ignore. If possible, let go of it, or at least wait a day or two before forming an opinion.
Venus in Libra is moving "home" territory so we tend to have a "feel good" with this transit. Venus is sextile to Mars in Sagittarius and opposing Uranus retrograde in Aries to form a Wedge pattern. We can merge these together to give us an added boost of energy as long as we are cautious not to be too extreme.
Jupiter is now in Libra, as of September 9 and will be in Libra until next October. This can frequently add to our relationship resources, but it can also cause us to be a bit flighty and fickle about our relationships. For some of us, we may notice that we have a harder time making up our minds.
Saturn in Sagittarius is forming a square to Neptune retrograde in Pisces. We may notice that some distinct phobias are surfacing. However, with the retrograde of Neptune, we may also find that we can explore these fears to help get at the root of them. Now is the perfect time to reach out for some assistance in better understanding where these originated so that they can be resolved.
For the most part, the lunar eclipse chart is mostly balanced with receptives and elements. Where we may stumble is with the lack of fixed qualities and high number of mutable qualities. This can be a real wishy-washy day of non-consensus and flip-floppy emotions. The best way to get through the day is to own our actions, and let others face their own demons without being too critical.
Meditation for the September 16th Lunar Eclipse
A dragon does not always need to be slain, it can sometimes be befriended.
