All too often, we receive letters asking how to tell what sign the Full Moon will be in. Through no fault of their own, the individual started learning astrology online or through books with no consistent or thorough explanation that astrology has basic rules and patterns that all the planets and luminaries simply must follow. Students jump into the learning process with very little guidance or without even the most basic fundamentals, only to begin feeling lost and confused within a matter of weeks.

We are certainly moving into a new phase at a universal level. Pluto finalized the switch into Capricorn approximately one month before Jupiter moves out of Capricorn and into Aquarius. Jupiter, the planet of opportunity of expansion has helped to minimize some of the Pluto influence of death and regeneration. But the first week of January, 2009, Jupiter is out of there, leaving Pluto to do what it does best to transform authority concepts, business ideals and fatherhood. Be prepared to see these themes be reformed, as only Pluto can do.

Due to the increased number of individuals who have been stealing bandwidth by hotlinking to my images and scripts, plus the amount of spam and crazy antics of some automated bots, I feel that I need to tighten the security on my site. I tolerated it to a certain degree for about five years. But, this year has been especially bad. Because of this rude behavior on the part of some of my guests, I have turned off certain features on my website for security reasons. Let me explain the changes.

• Individuals who have copied and pasted my text and images or javascripts as posts onto other websites while pulling the image/script from my site will no longer see the image/script once they clear their cache. Other visitors to their page will not see my image/script at all.
• Links from friendship sites like livejournal or myspace are likely to be blocked all together to reduce the amount of bots and spam that I am receiving from these sites.
• Subscriptions to my newsletter now require a captcha code included with your information. Your browser must allow images in order for you to see the code.
• I am still debating whether I will remove the blog from my site since it has become another big drain on my bandwidth usage.
• Individuals who visit my site with the http referer [sic] blocked will not be able to see most of my site's images. This will impact the visitor who uses a blocked referer setup on their browsers. These visitors also will not be able to use or see any of my javascript programs. If the page you are seeing contains a mishmash of images that look like a lot of dark blinking graphics all around a white table of text, it means that you have the referer blocked through your browser. To see my site with all the bells and whistles, you will need to stop blocking the referer while surfing my site.
• Search Engine Caches of my site are likely to look just as ugly as the visit with the blocked referer browsers. This is because the SEs are pulling the images off of my site in order to make these cache views possible rather than taking an image and storing it on their site. The amount of bandwidth that this SE practice uses from my site is amazing! If they can only pull a few images instead of all of them, I'm not being drained of all my resources.

I apologize for any inconveniences these new practices may cause for you. However, until I start seeing a decrease of rogue behavior or until I find a better way to protect myself and you as visitors, I don't feel that I have much choice at this point.

Looming at the outer reaches of our solar system lies Pluto, dark and mysterious, first sighted in 1930 and named for the Greek god of the dead. It is instructive to remember this god's true appellation was Hades. However, to speak that name aloud was deemed an ill-considered act of human arrogance, one that would court destruction or ruin.

An intro to the astrological article by Jim Shawvan

Definition: An Opportunity Period is a period in which the aspects of the transiting Moon to other transiting planets show no interference with the free flow of decision and action.

Opportunity Periods apply to everyone in the world all at once - although, of course, if your individual transits, progressions and returns are putting blocks in your path, you may not be able to use every Opportunity Period to the full. Nevertheless, you are always better off taking important actions and decisions during an Opportunity Period than at other times, all other things being equal.

You can use an ephemeris which gives the times of the Moon's aspects to find Opportunity Periods, but you'll have to convert all the times from Greenwich Mean Time (Universal Time) to the time zone in which you are living. Thus it's a whole lot easier to use a good astrological calendar which gives the times of the Moon's aspects in your local time zone!
