Sun is Capricorn, 27° 51'
Moon is Cancer, 27° 51'
It is the first full moon of the New Year with the Moon in Cancer while the Sun is still in Capricorn. This chart has more difficulties than perks, and it does not help that the Sun is close in alignment with Pluto in Capricorn. We may tend to look inward and not like what we are seeing. This may also indicate a time of death. Not necessarily a physical death, but the death of something we have dealt with for a long time. Depending on other factors in our chart, this could bring relief, or it may bring grief. Either way, it is a time of adjusting to the situation. The Moon's opposition adds to the emotional influences within the event.
The Moon is Out of Bounds (OOB) at the moment, and this is one of those long lasting ones that started January 14 and will last through most of January 18. There is always the potential for events that make us feel vulnerable or weak. Our best option is to try to anticipate the worst to prepare for the "just in case." The fact that Mars is also transiting OOB, is not helping us to find balance. Mars will be transiting OOB until February 11. Thankfully, no other planets are transiting OOB. But the Mars OOB transit, by itself, can feel like there are several planets pounding on us.
Mercury in Aquarius is retrograde motion now, until February 4. We can expect the usual confusion of errors, misdirections, and generally brain fog type confusion. Mercury is forming a conjunction with Saturn in Aquarius, and a square to Uranus retrograde in Taurus, so this could feel like we are using a sledge hammer to fix a problem, when a little tap was all that was needed. With Mercury moving out of these two alignments, we might benefit by waiting a few days before trying to fix any major problems.
Venus retrograde in Capricorn is close to ending, January 29, and then we can start regrouping on money matters and/or relationships. Venus is moving back into a trine with Uranus retrograde in Taurus. This normally would be a fun loving and potentially lucky connection. But not this time. We need to think about the consequences and take responsibility for our decisions with this one.
Mars in Sagittarius is moving past a square to Neptune in Pisces. Our dreams and creativity may feel somewhat cluttered with too much. Time to just use this moon energy for practice, and stop shooting for perfection. Be prepared to throw a lot out, whether it is something we are cooking, something we are drawing, or any other such creative ventures.
The Uranus retrograde in Taurus will end in a few days, on January 18. We may not notice much change once it stations direct, but gradually, it will pick up momentum and gradually undo some of the retrograde events that went down the past few months.
Overall, this full moon is less than balanced for us on so many different levels. There is a bit of a positive vibe, with our abilities to initiate new ideas, projects, or changes. But we may lack the momentum to bring them to fruition. There's a heavy number of planets in the feminine receptives, so we may feel more inclined to wait and see, rather than to charge ahead. This full moon may actually be a better time to plan, strategize, and organize for the new moon. Finish up easy to handle projects, if we can, but don't be upset if we don't get as much accomplished as we would normally hope for.
