Sun is Taurus, 17° 20'
Moon is Scorpio, 17° 20'
The Full Moon in May is frequently referred to as the Flower Moon. The Sun in Taurus is opposed by the Moon in Scorpio, and money matters are likely to catch our attention.
The Sun in Taurus tends to cause us to feel that we need to protect something important to us while the Moon in Scorpio can bring up feelings of jealousy or insecurities. Finding ways to balance our emotions with what is really bothering us, is the most important lesson for the day. We may be failing to see the real concern that is being masked behind our fears.
Mercury is conjunct to the Sun, in Taurus, and opposing the Moon, so our feelings get tangled into our thinking. Since we are thinking more about personal securities and less about others, but at the same time, others are pushing back on us to stop being so selfish, there's clear conflict brewing. There's a wedge from this opposition over to Neptune in Pisces. Of course, Neptune's interactions today are not all that helpful. While it may seem like there should be some assistance from Neptune, the fact of the matter is that it is our own responsibility to ACT with responsibility. Neptune can only help us if we are willing to help ourselves through this. Neptune's power is in using our skills and talents responsibly. Another planetary placement that can help us today is Pluto, in Capricorn, trine to Mercury. Intellectually, we are able to see the bigger picture and find solutions that others have missed in the past.
Before discussing the other planets in the full moon's chart, let's look at Out of Bounds (OOB) transits. The Moon transited OOB briefly on April 28 and 29. Did not notice anything different in your day, or your sleep patterns during those dates? If not, try paying attention again on May 10 through 12. The Moon's OOB transit can, on occasion, bring fears to the surface that we are normally able to ignore or manage. Sometimes, our feelings will flood into our subconscious with unusual consequences.
Mercury will begin to transit OOB on May 16, and last for about three weeks. The OOB will end about one week before Mercury stations for a retrograde transit in June. Just be forwarned that there can be more psychological (fear) impacts that we either experience or remember when Mercury is OOB.
Venus is the other OOB transit and it is lasting a very long time. Venus' OOB transit began on April 2 and will end on June 2. The fact that the Venus OOB transit is happening during the Global Pandemic is not lost on us here. Venus, ruler of all things "relationship" and "money" are so tightly woven together, that we are starting to be traumatized by our fears. Not that the fears are unjustified. It is apparent that this virus is beyond our scientific capacity to quickly fix. At the same time, we are being told some really crazy "fixes" that have the potential to make us ill or kill us, if the virus doesn't kill us.
Stepping outside of the Venus OOB transit, and looking back on the Saturn and Pluto conjunction in December 2019 and January 2020, we are likely to see threads of that conjunction play out in unusual ways connected to the transits of Jupiter in Capricorn as it moved over the 22nd degree of Capricorn on March 14 (about the time that some US cities and states were starting to shut down and cancelling events for social distancing measures) as Jupiter moved into a conjunction with Pluto on April 5 which was just a few days after Venus began its OOB transit, we stepped into another dimension of reality. Mid-month of May, Jupiter and Venus will both commence retrograde motion; Jupiter in Capricorn and Venus in Gemini. This will add another layer onto events that are going to impact us for years to come. While we can look well into the future on this, let's stick to the present so that we can stay on track with navigating what is clearly in front of us in the most positive way, without worrying too much about something that has yet to happen.
Venus in Gemini is trine to Mars in Aquarius. We will easily find people who support our way of thinking, even if our thinking is flawed. Be careful to sort through our thoughts to separate out whether it is fear-based, or reality-based. Not so helpful with this is Venus' square to Neptune in Pisces. Old problems arise with a new twist.
Jupiter in Capricorn is still forming a conjunction to Pluto. This can tend to cause a desire to dominate, control others or flat out bully others in trying to get them to do what we want them to do. Do we see any of that going on now? Yes, from many factions. Some is intended to "keep us safe" and some is intended to "free us from harmful ideas." Interestingly, neither is wrong. Finding our way though this with the least amount of damage and harm is squarely on us, and not on others. But, the other factor is, avoiding what is happening in some communities that have been flooded with people who are extremely sick and overwhelming their community health facilities to the point that many are dying, waiting in line for help. Jupiter has a way of exaggerating the best and the worst of situations, while Pluto wants to tear down and fix outdated concepts. Capricorn's role in all this is about society, social reputations, careers, authority and patriarchal ideals.
The last major aspect to be discussed is Neptune's sextile to Pluto. As already mentioned, Neptune is in Pisces, which is described as bringing the "Age of Aquarius" to the forefront. There are many mysteries that confound and perplex, while we search out spiritual leaders to guide us through the journey. Unfortunately, at the same time, many of these so-called spiritual leaders are simply in it for the wealth and fortune that they feel they are entitled for "guiding the lost." Neptune's transit through Pisces is confounding and perplexing, but at the same time, it helps us to see that we don't NEED someone to guide us. We are being taught how to guide ourselves, if we take the time to look to the universe for it's guidance. Mother Nature was around long before humans, and the lessons learned from nature are more relevant for survival.
Now that we have talked a little about the aspecting transits, the Out of Bounds influences, and a little about how these are tied to the Coronavirus Pandemic, let's look at how we can navigate through today's full moon with the least amount of stress.
The receptive placements of the planets are mostly Feminine. Meaning that inwardly, we already know the truths and that we have internal persistence and fortitude. Many of the solutions for our "current" state of mind are not that much different than we are usually doing, even without a pandemic. We still need to work hard, just in a different way. There are no Fire Element placements, and most of the placements are in Earth, meaning that we are more likely to feel stuck unless we tap into Earth-based solutions. Back to Basics can help us to feel grounded with the full moon influence. With the majority of the plants in Fixed signs, we can use this to concentrate on where we are today. Be prepared to support those close around. We can strengthen our communities with acts of kindness. On Sunday, a Happy Mother's Day to those who celebrate.
