Sun is Cancer, 11° 19'
Moon is Capricorn, 11° 19'

This full moon in Capricorn is likely to feel challenging. This is the first full moon after the June Solstice, so we are pushing into some new territories of emotions that might leave us feeling unsure of how to make some long term decisions. I know a lot of people are calling this full moon a super moon, but it is not. It may look like it based on appearances, but the next actual full super moon will occur twice in August. This one is close to being a super moon, but, is not quite there yet.

Did you know that the moon used to be a form of calendar system? Hundreds of years ago, the phases of the moon, and in particular the full moons, were a time/date marker for many communities to indicate days, months, and seasons. One of the Native American tribes that the Farmer's Almanac used as a resource for full moon names, indicated that July was the month of the Buck Moon, which highlighted a time for their tribe to focus on hunting the largest of the male deer, elk, and even moose so that the tribe could replenish their protein supplies before heading into the harvesting season prior to winter. For us, in today's world, we are less concerned about thinking that far ahead, but, in truth, we probably should be planning in some ways for the future. Capricorn likes to remind us to keep a step ahead of our needs; both for our social and personal needs.

This full moon has aspects to quite a few other planets. Mercury has pushed ahead of the Sun in Cancer but is still conjunct, helping us to think more clearly about our needs. The Sun is sextile to Jupiter in Taurus, expanding on our abilities. This is a great time to explore our spiritual needs. The Sun is trine to Saturn retrograde in Pisces. This one is not as helpful as we would like, but gives us a bit of a push to look inward at how we can improve our current situations, if we are willing to do the work. Collectively, all these placements create a "cradle" of aspects from the full moon, encouraging us to nurture and honor our intentions under this full moon.

Today, Venus in Leo is forming a conjunction with Mars. The pair are enjoying their trek through Leo with courtship and feelings of romance heightened at this time. Venus and Mars are, however, forming a square to Uranus in Taurus. There are likely to be sudden shifts within relationships that can cause us to have doubts.

Jupiter, recently moved in to Taurus, and is currently moving over a critical degree which potentially could expand on our desires to keep the status quo. Question being, is the status quo that we are craving, really what we need? We may do better to keep an open mind and explore options, even if we see no need for them, at the time. Jupiter is sextile to Saturn retrograde in Pisces. Finding the right resources is key to feeling secure. Rather than purchasing a whole lot of cheap items, we are more likely to find long term satisfaction by holding on to our money until we find the item that will help us feel satisfaction well into the future.

The sextile from Neptune retrograde in Pisces to Pluto retrograde in Capricorn is pushing on us again. Exploring our values relative to the values of others around us, can feel uncomfortable. We need to be careful to not assume that we are right, or that "they" are wrong, as deceptions are always close by. Try to be open to reconsidering long held beliefs without devaluing them or another's beliefs. With growth comes great responsibility, and with accepting that responsibility comes more growth.

All in all, this full moon day is likely to feel rather lopsided. There are only two planets in the Masculine signs which could have us looking inward more than we are comfortable doing. Humans are quick to blame others, yet this full moon will have us facing blame for our own actions, or inactions. We are less flexible, emotionally, than usual, and we could become determined in a way that is not productive nor beneficial, in the grand scheme of the day. This full moon may be pushing us to step outside of our comfort zone by having an honest conversation with ourselves, and, potentially with others, about what we really need, in order to feel respect.
