Sun is Scorpio, 1° 13'
Moon is Taurus, 1° 13'
We are one month into the fall season (northern hemisphere) and the daylight is waning with each day. This full moon is known as the Hunter's moon as it is a time where the Native Americans knew that they would need meat reserves to get through the coldness of the winter. The animals are basically done having babies, and most of the babies are getting large enough to live on their own during the winter months. It was a time to harvest and hunt before everything became too scarce to find resources. The Sun has ingressed into Scorpio, and the Moon is transiting Taurus. The amount of sunshine available regulates our energy and hormones as it does with all living things. Some of us struggle with depression as the light wanes in the fall months. This impacts our perspective on life. We may become more introverted. For some individuals, during this time, we become more power driven, as we want more control over others as we cope with our own failings. It can be a very complex and psychologically driven period of time.
The Sun and Moon opposition are tied into Venus' retrograde transit through Scorpio. This adds a tense layer to our relationships and our dealings with money. We may feel lonely, or out of place within our environment. Until Venus moves back into Libra, we may reflect on our sorrows. Intense relationships may not feel healthy at the moment. Venus will be back in home territory (Libra) on October 31. Uranus retrograde in Taurus is also tied into the full moon. It is also packing a lot of punch with its transit as it prepares to move back into Aries on the 6th of November. The transit pushes us to adapt to the changes that surround us, even though we don't want to. We like status quo, and Uranus, even when retrograde, does not.
The Sun, Moon, Venus and Uranus are forming a wedge aspect pattern to Saturn in Capricorn. Since all these planets are aligning with "in-sign" aspects, the impact is much stronger. Saturn, is the taskmaster, expecting us to learn from our mistakes. We are likely to make many mistakes during this full moon. We might as well just acknowledge our responsibility in our choices, and learn from them. The good feature of owning our decisions is that we grow stronger as a result. On the other hand, we may not like dealing with the consequences. Finding our strength can bring some psychological peace, especially while the Sun transits Scorpio.
Mercury in Scorpio brings its own set of issues. Not necessarily bad issues, but we may sit on a secret that may not be worth the effort. Don't let it eat away to the point of allowing it to become unhealthy. Sometimes, Mercury's transit through Scorpio is a good time to seek emotional or psychological assistance to help us deal with the turmoil we feel. Reaching out to someone trained in exploring our secrets can release us of the burden.
Mercury is moving out of a square to Mars in Aquarius. Exercise or meditation are both great ways to deal with the tension that bubbles from this aspect. Mars in Aquarius can push us to try to be all things to all people, and we forget that we have our limits. We want to help others. Remember to take the high road when it doesn't work out. Mercury is moving into a conjunction with Jupiter in Scorpio. This aspect tends to expand on all things Scorpio within our thought processes. Journaling for the next two weeks can help us to keep track of all the changes we encounter. The other aspect from Mercury is the sextile to Pluto in Capricorn. There is a built in intuition with this aspect. If we have been struggling to understand a complex matter, now is the time to stand back and look from a different vantage point. We may make a fantastic discovery in the process.
Chiron retrograde is back into Pisces and trine to Jupiter in Scorpio. This can be a very healing connection if we figure out how to utilize it correctly. Similar to the Pluto and Mercury aspect, it involves introspection and being able to view the situation differently. This can be a mind-opening experience.
All in all, the chart is extremely heavy with feminine receptive placements. We should be able to handle the emotional baggage from the past, but if we keep heaping more on, we are likely to buckle from the load. Self care is critical during this full moon. There are seven placements in the Water element, which could mean that we are likely to have a good cry, in order to get back on track. With seven fixed placements, we may feel alone and vulnerable for the day. Take some "me" time. We should not feel like we need to listen to others criticize up. If others do lash out, then walk away and find a space that allows us to feel safe, at least for the day.
Meditation for the October 24th Full Moon
Life itself may be only a series of illusions -- why not pick those which bring us the most enjoyment?
