Sun is Scorpio, 8° 38'
Moon is Taurus, 8° 38'
Across most of the world, this October 31 full moon is the second full moon of the month. Some call this a blue moon, but there are always exceptions and qualifications that go into calling it that. There's more information in the moon articles on Lunar Living about the history of "the blue moon" if you are interested. Remember, just because a full moon is at the end of the month, or a blue moon, it usually is not more difficult to navigate than any other full moon.
This full moon is in the sign of Taurus, with the Sun in Scorpio. There could be some passive-aggressive tendencies with this one. Throw in the fact that the Moon is conjunct to Uranus retrograde, and we know there are going to be some unusual surprises to contend with. Both signs, Taurus and Scorpio have a quiet power that tends to "get things done" but in different ways. Be wary of manipulative tactics; don't use them and don't fall for them.
The most recent out of bounds (OOB) transit of the Moon was October 21 to October 23. Looking back at events for those dates - while there were no major hurricanes, there was a very large earthquake the day before leading into the OOB transit. The wildfires had continued to wreak havoc, with the biggest flare ups tending to occur during the OOB transit. Other news on those dates tended to leave us feeling traumatized and vulnerable. The next Moon OOB dates are November 4 through 7, just days after the US election.
Mercury's retrograde motion has popped back into Libra until November 10. The retrograde motion will end on November 3, which is likely to add plenty of confusion to the US presidential elections. There is a restless nature to Mercury in this section of Libra. The squares from Mercury to Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn are challenging us regarding the decisions and opinions that we are contemplating. We are likely to worry too much, over-think our choices, and voice opinions that we might normally keep under wraps. The square to Pluto could end up causing some hurt feelings.
Venus in Libra feels right at home. This is the peace-maker transit for Venus. We tend to feel more sociable, but also seem to pick up on hidden messages that we may not normally notice. There are no major Venus connections to other planets during this full moon.
Mars retrograde in Aries is moving out of a square to Jupiter in Capricorn. The retrograde will end on November 14. The connection with Jupiter may not be as assertive while Mars moves back through Aries. Interestingly, options may feel more available this time around. It's all about our timing. Situations that did not work out in the past, might suddenly be considered viable now.
Jupiter is moving back into the conjunction with Pluto in Capricorn. The conjunction is also forming a sextile to Neptune retrograde in Pisces. Jupiter loves to EXPAND on situations and events. For good or bad, things may get out of control when Jupiter is involved. Pluto is in the process of cleaning out the old or ineffective behaviors. We usually don't like that, since Pluto's influence forces us to find new ways, new solutions, or even re-examine ideas that didn't seem to work before. It's the natural tendency of Pluto to cause us to grieve what we used to have, but don't anymore. We typically don't like this function of Pluto. Neptune retrograde? Well, that's a different influence. Rather than "hiding" things from us, truths are being revealed now and we are being forced to rethink these new facts that had been hidden. The overall combo might not be easy to handle. But Necessary is not always Easy.
Saturn is moving direct in Capricorn and today it is moving over a critical degree as it heads back to Aquarius. As it passes back over this territory for the third time, we are given more flexibility in developing that "fresh start." We can feel more self-assured since we have been here before, and that brings up a sense of affirmation. The fact that Saturn is moving back out of the conjunction with Pluto feels less like the struggle we felt last time. Habits are changing, and we are starting to regain some of the control back that Saturn likes feeling, but now with a change of perspective.
The majority of the planets are in Feminine Receptives. There is more self-sustaining going on, rather than waiting for someone else to fire us up with motivation. The determination is found within us. This means that the majority of the planets are in Earth and Water Elements. They are mostly in the Earth Element meaning that we feel more grounded when we slow down situations to our own pace. With this full moon, that's okay. We don't always need to be so busy. Where we are being most challenged is the fact that the majority of the planets are in the Cardinal signs. We know what we want, so we don't want to have to wait any longer. Use this time to explore the options without forcing others to agree. Another perspective may actually be just what is needed to get that next project going in a successful direction.
