Sun is Gemini, 15° 34'
Moon is Sagittarius, 15° 34'
This eclipse is the first in the grouping of three eclipses this late spring and early summer. Lunar eclipses are always safe to watch without protective eyewear since we are looking at the moon and not at the sun. For the western hemisphere, this lunar eclipse will not be visible. The best observations will be in Europe, Africa, Australia and Asia. However, this is a penumbral eclipse, and the color changes may not be all the apparent.
The eclipse is associated with the lunar saro series 111, as it wanes from the south in the fourth nodal family. The replacement lunar eclipse from the south in the fourth nodal family is waxing (growing stronger with each appearance) is saro series 149, and will occur in a month. The lunar saro series originated on June 10, 830 AD. The Gregorian calendar adjustment is June 14, 830.
This full moon eclipse is also called the Strawberry Moon by some native tribes for obvious reasons. It's that time of year in the northern hemisphere. The Sun in Gemini is opposed by the Moon in Sagittarius as we wrestle with finding balance between self and others. Changes are likely to happen quickly, and adapting may not always arrive easily for some of us. Sagittarius encourages us to learn more about others so that we can better understand that the world is filled with vast and differing opinions from various cultures.
The T-square to Mars and Neptune in Pisces, along with Venus' retrograde conjunction with the Sun in Gemini will largely impact our spiritual and compassion for others. It may not come easily, as we will feel challenged to see things from a different perspective than we are accustomed. Venus will highlight personal relationships and financial matters, of course. Gemini' vantage point is to build skill sets quickly, adapt and utilize the knowledge that we obtain on the fly. Pisces, of course, is caring for others without expecting to be "rewarded" for our efforts. We will likely have interactions with institutions and concepts that are large and overbearing. How we approach these organizations will shape our direction over the next few months. Mars is always about the physicality and direct approach that we take in life, while Neptune looks more inward at our skills and talents. While transiting Pisces, we are constantly adjusting and re-defining our needs. In general, we are being pushed to redefine our world view. Others will push back when our world view impedes theirs. There are no easy ways out of this. The best solution is to listen and care.
Mercury in Cancer is still transiting Out of Bounds for the next five days. At this time, the Sun is pushing into the higher declinations but will not go Out of Bounds. It never does, but instead defines the "limits" of the high declinations of the orbits. While pushing outward in the high declinations which peaks during the Solstices, our feelings tend to be more edgy and somewhat uncomfortable. Some find this exhilarating while others pull back and try to retreat. Our own personal charts can help us to understand our traits in how we deal with the Sun's transits through Gemini, Cancer, Sagittarius, and Capricorn. In other words, some us intuitively lean in, while others, as a note of caution, take cover. Neither approach is wrong. But being aware of the reactions can help us to stay safer in the process.
On June 18, Mercury will station for retrograde motion lasting until July 12. Before the retrograde motion begins, now is the time to evaluate needs, especially for repairs and upgrades. Waiting too long, and having to fix items while Mercury is retrograde, can tend to cause a need for a second repair after Mercury is direct again. Never a fun way to waste time and resources.
Mercury in Cancer is forming a sextile to Uranus in Taurus. Intuition and sudden awakenings to new ideas and beliefs. A time to open the mind to new possibilities.
Jupiter's retrograde in Capricorn is transiting over a critical degree as it moves back into a tighter conjunction with Pluto retrograde in Capricorn. When Jupiter moves over this degree in Capricorn, we tend to feel defensive, with the potential for irrational reactions. A personal observation. On the evening of May 25, George Floyd was killed by a small group of police officers in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On the morning of May 26, the world was becoming aware of the killing via video recordings taken by concerned bystanders. Jupiter was preparing to move back over the 26th degree of Capricorn that went into effect on May 27 to last until June 12. When Jupiter was transiting direct motion, it moved over the 26th degree between April 16 and May 2. A suggestion is to look back at that period. A quick review of Breaking News near the beginning point and near the ending point can help remind us of where we were, relative to where we are today.

It is obvious that many of these headlines aren't even remembered simply because there is so much to absorb at once; our brains can only handle a small portion. On May 1, 2020, there were over 57,000 deaths from COVID-19 in the US. Now the United States has over 109,000 deaths due to this Coronavirus. Almost double the number in little more than a month. Let's just say that when Jupiter is mixing it up with Pluto, Jupiter's message can be larger than we ever imagined. And yes, Jupiter is still forming a conjunction with Pluto in Capricorn.
We talked a bit about the Neptune in Pisces sextile to Pluto in Capricorn during the last piece. Refer back to that article for a better understanding of this significant aspect.
During the month of June, there will be six planets transiting retrograde at some point in time. The only planets, capable of transiting retrograde, that will not be retrograde in June are Mars and Neptune. This many retrograde planets in a month can be difficult to assimilate. We need to be ready to adjust as needed. Our best mental health in the moment is our best ally to navigate through.
Overall, the Lunar Eclipse chart is leaning more heavily into the Water and Earth elements which are feminine by nature. The modality of the chart is dominant with Mutable qualities, meaning that some things need to be adjusted by bending or flexing to the environment, because force will only damage the situation more.
Meditation for the June 5th Lunar Eclipse
The movement of music happens not in the notes themselves but between the notes, in the silences.
