Lunar Eclipse
in: Pisces 25° September 18, 2024 @ 02:35 am GMT September 17, 2024 @ 07:35 pm PDT -7
Sun is Virgo, 25° 41'
Moon is Pisces, 25° 41' We are now, full on, in the last eclipse season of 2024. If the night skies work in our favor, at least half the world should be able to see the partial lunar eclipse. This will be the last time that this particular eclipse series (Lunar Saros 118) will be partial. All the rest of this series will be penumbral, and less clear to the human eye from Earth. This eclipse should be visible in many portions of the Americas, Western Africa, and Western Europe. The Lunar Saros 118 series originated in 1105, with the full moon in Virgo at 18 degrees. That original full moon of the series tends to heighten our awareness of our situation, inspires us to work hard to accomplish our goals, and focus on the details. The moon was in the second decan of Virgo, sub ruled by Saturn (Capricorn), accentuating our professional inclinations and building structure in our lives. The original chart for that originating eclipse can be viewed at the bottom of this page. With the Sun in Virgo, this Harvest Moon Lunar Eclipse in Pisces, should allow us to see inside ourselves better, so that we can touch on the core of our instincts and make healthier decisions for ourselves. While Pisces is not always known for being comfortable in challenging the status quo, if we explore our situation, and move outside of our current bubble of existence, we may begin to see new messages that are relevant to our mental health and wellbeing. If we are going through life angry at others around us, or afraid of what others think or say about us, we are missing the significance of unity and cohesion with others who are different from us. Most likely, we are being told by someone in power who we should like and who to distrust. This lunar eclipse gives us permission to explore atypical relationships. This current eclipse is paired with a solar eclipse in Libra, adding a positive flow of energy originating from Pisces over the next two weeks. The full moon in Pisces is tied into a Kite pattern with the three outer retrograde planets, Neptune (Pisces), Uranus (Taurus) and Pluto (Capricorn). Since all these planets are in-sign with one another, it adds a good influence that gives us an unusual strength to become the "leader" of our own lives. We don't need to be told by others how to think, or what we should be doing, since there is an intrinsic awareness of our own personal needs. We are getting a rare opportunity to take back our personal power, without needing permission from others in "authority." This is a great time to step outside of authoritative values that we have wrapped around ourselves, either through work, religion, personal relationship, family, or even social media, to see what all we might be missing in our lives. We are likely to discover that the ugliness or scariness that we believe is out there, is not as ugly or scary as we are being convinced to believe. Mercury is also transiting Virgo, typically helping us with analyzing and detailing projects while opposing Saturn retrograde in Pisces, that can cause us to worry about minutia without just cause. This could send us on wild goose chases in our research activities. It will be over in a day or two, so wait a bit before searching for information. Venus transiting in Libra is inconjunct with the Moon today but thankfully, it is not as much of a challenge as some transits in this chart. We may struggle with our emotions concerning relationships or concerning finances, but at the same time, Venus is trine to Jupiter in Gemini. Jupiter can expand on Venus' Libra strengths. Venus helps us to find our footing in relation to equality and talents. We can use Venus and Jupiter working together to expand our abilities, either through scholarly education or through hard work and practice. Mars in Cancer is avoiding any transiting aspects to the other transiting planets, but Mars is building up to an important transit for the Solar Eclipse. Health is really important when Mars transits through Cancer as this is a weak point of the zodiac for Mars. Truly a time to listen to our bodies and slow down to a more cautious pace until November. We are likely to experience a form of plateau, especially if we have been excelling in our exercise routine or other healthy forms of workout, while Mars moves through Cancer. With so many planets placed in Virgo and Pisces for this Lunar Eclipse, we are better able to look inward without feeling awkward about it. Health is a very important facet of this eclipse, and we truly need to stop pushing it aside in order to get ahead. We aren't going to get as much done as we would like, but that's the point. It's not about physical prowess, but internal determination that helps us to find new strategies. It is the endurance that we have developed over the past few months that helps us to maintain what we have. There are four planets in Earth signs and four planets in Water signs. A calm temperament and positive perspective will carry us over to the new moon eclipse coming up in two weeks. Meditation for the September 18th Lunar Eclipse
