Sun is Capricorn, 12° 20'
Moon is Capricorn, 12° 20'
The new year new moon is earlier enough in the year that for some regions, there will be a second new moon in the month of January. Today's new moon is in Capricorn, adding a sense of responsibility to the day, and, at least for the next three weeks, an overall social catalyst of change. It is unlikely to be similar to 2021s start of the new year, but there is always a desire for societal change in the year when Capricorn, plus Pluto, is involved.
Have we been paying attention to the societal revolution happening, ever since Pluto has been transiting Capricorn, since 2009? Think back onto some of those changes that have been occurring. Events can get really deep, really fast, and then we dig through those changes to try to make sense of them for the rest of the year. The irony of society responsibility, especially with setting lofty goals, with Capricorn at the start of that new year, is that there can also be a tendency for a societal selfishness and/or materialistic tendency that can become entrenched in with our attitudes. So, "for the good of the community," may end up with a hearty pushback from the minority who feel "put upon" by the majority ready for change. But, a minority group can also implement change with just the right amount of society spark and readiness.
This new moon is forming a trine to Uranus retrograde in Taurus. New ideas can get rolling quickly with very little momentum at this point in time. Last year, when the Sun and Moon (as a full moon) were interacting with Uranus retrograde, there was a "revolution forming" of people who joined together to try to overthrow the presidential election. So, when we think about what Uranus can develop, even while transiting retrograde, when sparked by a moon event, it can be quite significant in the outcome.
The moon is transiting Out of Bounds (OOB) in the southern declinations again with this moon event. Feeling vulnerable is part of the norm for the OOB transit. The moon will move back into the high declinations on January 4 as it heads back to the North. The Northern OOB will start on January 14, along with the Full Moon in Cancer.
Mercury has just moved into Aquarius, adding some unpredictability to our thought processes. We may come up with some ingenious ideas, or some downright crazy ones. Either way, Mercury's transit through Aquarius is typically entertaining. Mercury is done with the Out of Bounds transit, and it quickly moved away from the high declination region, but it is heading into a retrograde motion in two weeks. Get any major purchases, contracts, and mailings done now before we get bogged down with Mercury's retrograde in Aquarius and eventually getting pushed back into Capricorn.
Venus in Capricorn is also done with its Out of Bounds transit. But, Venus continues to transit retrograde until the end of January. At the moment, Venus retrograde is sextile to Neptune in Pisces, and conjunct to Pluto. Our talents may continue to be tested in ways that we have not experienced in the past. Relationships can also be tested. We are likely to let go of some long time friends that have pushed us to the limits. Or, on the other hand, we might jump into a relationship or get married to someone who normally is not "our type." Be careful about spending money on trinkets and objects that we don't really need, simply because we want them to feel better about ourselves.
Mars, in Sagittarius, will be the next planet to transit Out of Bounds. Mars is currently in the higher declination region, as it prepares to move OOB on January 12th. The OOB will last until February 10th. So be prepared for some really heavy duty transitions during that time. Mars' OOB transits tend to really shake our lives up. Thankfully, they don't happen as often as Mercury and Venus.
Today, Mars is sextile to Saturn in Aquarius. This can be a great time to start new with a project that perhaps didn't work out last time. With new perspectives, we tend to get a better start.
Jupiter is back in Pisces for this new moon. All done with Aquarius for the next decade, we start to think more in terms of spiritual wellness, improved mental health, and, generally, helping others by giving more of ourselves to help someone we may, or may not, know. Jupiter's transit through Pisces tends to expand on our self-sacrificing traits. Saturn, in Aquarius is forming a square to Uranus retrograde in Taurus. Hopefully, this helps to hold Uranus back from any extreme activity. But the other side of this is the possibility of acting with a martyr complex.
Overall, the new moon chart is heavy with Feminine Receptives. Most people don't realize that Capricorn is a Feminine traited sign. We tend to thrive in situations that require high morality, hard work, and diligence when the Feminine receptives are dominant in a chart. As for the elements, there are plenty of Earth Sign placements, adding to our dependability, loyalty, and, potentially, our stubborn nature. The majority of the planets are in Cardinal Signs, and helps us to move forward on plans. We are less likely to procrastinate on the projects that need to be done. Overall, we are willing to work with others who are like-minded in both personal and business situations.
Meditation for the January 2nd New Moon
The relative weight of difficulties is largely a function of our own perception.
