This new moon in Capricorn is the first major moon event of the new year, holding significance in the fact that we are starting with new energies on projects that were either unfinished, or brand new, and deserving our full attention. Most of the planets are done with their retrograde motions, except for Uranus, in Taurus, and the new moon is trine to Uranus during this new moon. We are likely to feel pressured to finish up older projects that have lingered on our "to do" list. Doing them "right" is the main focus now, as we don't want to have to attend to them, again, later. The new moon is forming a T-square with the lunar nodes, and this tends to be a Karma connection reminding us to clean up, do better, or deal with the consequences. It is not just about hoping for the best, but to actually change the behavior that is causing the problems.

Mercury in Sagittarius is moving forward again, ending the retrograde motion on January 2. Mercury is square to Neptune in Pisces. We are more likely to struggle with some depression, or feeling out of control of our current situations. Strange dreams are likely to bubble up in our sleep. Now can be a good time to journal our emotions and our dreams to try to find the patterns that need our attention.

Mars in Capricorn is sextile to Saturn in Pisces and trine to Jupiter in Taurus. The blending of the three placements is quite rewarding if we take the time to utilize the influence. This can be utilized either for business purposes, or personal purposes, to get us to a new station in life, or a new level in our education. Finances might also be boosted with these aspects, as we find ways to expand on our monetary situation or cut back on frivolous expenses. Jupiter's transit through Jupiter will be fairly quick, now, and will transit into Gemini in a few months. Now is a great time to think about taking advantage of Jupiter's transit through Taurus. Neptune in Pisces is still sextile to Pluto as Pluto has moved slowly over the Anaretic degree (last degree) of Capricorn. Once Pluto ingresses Aquarius, the sextile will take on a totally different vibe, pushing us to feel less stable in our activities. Pluto will move into Aquarius on January 21. We will get one more familiar Capricorn to Pisces blast from the sextile in September, October and November, 2024. If we have been using this influence to create something specific, think about these timeframes to help solidify the outcomes. If we have been using this aspect to tie up loose ends or to release outdated behaviors, then also think about the next time that Pluto and Neptune will be forming this final in-sign sextile. The out of sign influence of the sextile to Neptune while Pluto is in Aquarius is less stable and will feel less personal for us.

This new moon is heavy in the Feminine receptives, and most of those placements are in Earth element signs. In other words, we may feel stuck. The key to using this influence is to plan for the future. Use our knowledge of what we are going through, in the present, in order to get ourselves unstuck in the future, when the time is right. Again, like the last full moon, there are absolutely no planets in the Air element signs. So we may not be able to adapt to new ideas if any are presented to us. The best option is to take care of our physical and emotional needs, and not worry too much, at this point, about taking on any new situations that are likely to stress us out more and cause us to feel more hopeless. Timing for true change is in the future, just not today. Today's influence is best utilized in planning for that future.
