My Apologies that this article is late. Was working on this as quickly as possible while my Meniere's Symptoms kept slowing me down.
The first major Moon event of the calendar year is the new moon in Capricorn, also known as the first new moon after the solstice in December.. But, it is the last new moon of the Chinese year of the Rat. Capricorn helps us to define our reputation while encouraging us to be responsible and attentive to obligations. Yet, for each of us, that is different. Our opinions of others may reflect our own values while ignoring theirs. Now, let's throw in the fact that this new moon is downright close to Pluto's placement in Capricorn. We could either be plotting revenge in our own mindset, or we are finally realizing that our reality is fraught with many flaws. Taking the time to look at how we are reacting to the current situations is a reflection of our own past mistakes. We could take this moment to accept responsibility for those, or we could continue to make matters worse for ourselves. Regardless of HOW those mistakes came to occur, our best growth comes in accepting that we are the reason for the mistakes and resolving to make better decisions for ourselves and others. That is what Capricorn attempts to teach us.
The new moon stellium (Moon, Sun, & Pluto) is forming a loose sextile to Neptune in Pisces. The whole possibility of delusions is there, but the better outcome from this aspect is the ability to improve on our natural talents. We can find some comfort with creative outlets during this new moon.
This new moon is occurring at the end of the Moon's Out of Bounds (OOB) transit over the Tropic of Capricorn, that started on January 11. We can expect feelings of vulnerability while the Moon transits OOB. The next OOB transit will be January 25 - 28 while the Moon is over the Tropic of Cancer, just before the full moon in Leo.
Mercury, in Aquarius, is heading into station retrograde on January 30. Today, Mercury is forming a stellium (conjunction) with Jupiter and Saturn. Mercury has a way of providing new insight to recent events. There is a detached logic with Mercury in Aquarius, that afford a moment of clarity and hindsight. The interactions with Jupiter tend to provide a "gift of gab" that we can use to convince others to see our perspective. While, at the same time, the connection with Saturn gives us a healthy dose of skepticism. How this all swirls out, after this new moon, will make for some interesting revelations.
This Aquarius stellium is forming square aspects to the Mars and Uranus retrograde conjunction in Taurus. Accidents and violence may be tied back to our own decisions and actions. Those are the unintended consequences of choices that we may not have taken seriously in the past. Sometimes, we truly do need to say "NO" to ideas that pop into our heads that might, potentially, take us down a bad path.
Venus in Capricorn is forming a trine to the Mars and Uranus conjunction in Taurus. When Venus moves through Capricorn, we are usually emotionally and financially tied to our need for status and security. We may feel insecure about asking for assistance from others for fear of how we will be perceived. The trine to Mars and Uranus retrograde actually softens this feeling, while providing us more courage and self-confidence. So, in that regard, we may be able to use this transit to our advantage.
Mars moved into Taurus on the 6th of January after a very long transit in home territory, Aries. Mars will spend about two months in Taurus. This transit is likely to tap into our desires of finding stability. For some, that could mean marriage. Others may look for a place to call home. While others may want to build something from scratch to define a sense of permanence in their creative talents. That conjunction of Uranus, both while retrograde, then direct, can provide spontaneous inspirations. The other side of this is that we need to ensure that we release our stress in productive ways so that we don't ultimately harm ourselves or others.
We have been dealing with the Jupiter and Saturn conjunction in Aquarius for a few weeks now. It truly has that revolution spirit of awakening. There's the self-awareness that arrives with this transit, but there is also the awareness that we are not in alignment with many others. Aquarius has that "restless" tendency associated with it, and the desire for freedom from oppression. At the same time, we find friendship and comradery with others who share our perspectives. Mind you, that does not mean that we are on the right side of a cause, simply because we have found others in agreement. But Aquarius makes finding those networks easier. There are Jupiter and Saturn conjunctions every 18 to 20 years in other signs. But, there has not been one quite like this since 1226. Even then, that one was a bit of a slippery mess of connections throughout the entire year from a series of conjunctions in Capricorn to Aquarius, then back into Capricorn and then Aquarius, again. This time, there was a cleaner conjunction for both planets as they slipped into Aquarius together near the December solstice. The last Jupiter/Saturn conjunction was in May, 2000 in the sign of Taurus, and the next one will be in October, 2040 in the sign of Libra.
This new moon has more feminine receptive placements lending to a reduction in action objectives, but more emotional motivations. There are six Earth element placements during this new moon, that can help to stabilize, but there is the possibility of being accused of being a slow-starter as we are not so certain that today is the right day to be too assertive. Collectively, almost all the planets are in Cardinal and Fixed quality signs, that tends to feed our opinionated and our stubborn sides. Adapting to situations will not be our strong suit today.
Meditation for the January 13th New Moon
To the crazy person, the normal one is insane.
