New Moon
in: Aquarius 1° January 21, 2023 @ 8:53 p.m. GMT January 21, 2023 @ 12:53 a.m. PST -8
Sun is Aquarius, 1° 33'
Moon is Aquarius, 1° 33' This new moon in Aquarius is occurring during a Super Moon when the moon is closest to the earth in its orbit. I can't speak for other regions, but I know that Oregon will be experiencing King Tides also known as extreme high tides during this new moon. Part of that is due to the Super Moon in conjunction with the new moon. This new moon is also the Asian Lunar New Year of the Hare or the Cat, depending on the culture. The Zodiac of the Cat is believed to bring up traits of curiosity and individualism. In someway, the Cat sign has many traits in common with Western Astrology's sign of Aquarius, which is the sign of this new moon. Followers of the "Rabbit" sign describe the traits as being gentle, calm, and loving although people born under the sign of the Rabbit are also ambitious with an intuitive sense of navigating on their life's journey. This new moon's placement in Aquarius tends to bring up uncommon feelings. We may not know what to do with the feelings we have during this new moon. On the other hand, if we are in a problem solving mode, we are likely to come up with new, and ingenious solutions. The new moon is sextile to Jupiter in Aries, adding opportunities and options to our lives today. Jupiter in Aries encourages us to explore options more freely without our usual restraints. Mercury is direct in Capricorn. We tend to be more focused with Mercury transiting direct in Capricorn. However, Mercury is forming a square to Jupiter in Aries which can cause us to become a bit more impulsive. Additionally, Mercury is quincunx (inconjunct) to Mars in Gemini, which can add another challenge to Mercury's journey through Capricorn. We need to be careful not to make quick assumptions during this new moon. Venus in Aquarius is conjunct with Saturn. This should be interesting for developing new friendships or building new skills under the darkness of this new moon. We will find inspiration in the most unusual ways. Don't give up hope. Persistence will help us make it our own in the most inventive way. Mars in Gemini, now heading direct again after a very prolonged Mars retrograde, is feeling like a do over with more positive outcomes. Mars is forming a sextile to Jupiter in Aries. We are likely to feel on top of the world now, as we overcome and find releases that were hindering us over the past few months. Our energy levels are starting to rev back up, and our optimism is returning. Some of the unique facets of this new moon will be discovered because of the low number of Fire and Water Element placements. Think in terms of Tornados and not Hurricanes that will unearth hidden mysteries. The larger than usual number of Air and Earth Element placements will bond to tear down and turn over aspects of our lives that we least want to deal with. We don't want to deal with them, because there are so many Fixed Quality placements in this chart. We don't like the change, even though we need the change. But, with the new moon, we will also have all the tools we need to make this a successful Lunar New Year. Meditation for the January 21st New Moon
The capacity to be centered where you are at the moment, and yet prepared to move on if necessary, can be acquired with practice.
