New Moon
in: Taurus 21°

May 11, 2021 @ 12:00 noon PDT -7
Sun is Taurus, 21° 18'
Moon is Taurus, 21° 18'

The new moon with the sun and moon in Taurus brings us purpose and pleasure related to material possessions. We need to be careful not to associate who we are to the things that we own. The influence of Taurus also pushes us to find self-satisfaction and self-security. We feel more accomplished when we know we have attained some success on our own. But we need to remember that our successes are not without some support from someone in our life who gave us a hand up or a hand out at some point.

The new moon is moving into a trine with Pluto retrograde in Capricorn and a sextile to Neptune in Pisces. We may daydream a bit too much, but if we use the dreams to help us create new outlets, Pluto may help us to regroup with a new ambition or focus.

The moon was out of bounds the first of May and will be out of bounds again May 13 - May 17. These days are always a struggle as we feel unsure about our safety. Unfortunately, all of May will have something to throw at us. Mars will continue to be OOB until May 24. Mercury is OOB May 7 through May 30, and Venus will begin an OOB transit May 23, well into June.

Mercury in Gemini is right at home now, and our communication with others is energized. Mercury is trine to Saturn in Aquarius. Our ability to strategize is enhanced. This might also be a great time to learn something new in a field we have been interested in learning more about. Mercury's out of bounds transit this month will push us to think of better ways to deal with our family members. We may receive some unsettling news.

Venus in Gemini is usually not as comfortable in this sign, as it was in the last. But don't let that stop us from being curious. Being willing to explore to see what feels right could open up a few new doors. Venus is forming an out of sign square to Jupiter in the anaretic degree of Aquarius. Don't make assumptions about what we think others are thinking. Now is not a good time to come across as overly self-assured.

Mars in Cancer is sextile to Uranus in Taurus. Mars is still transiting OOB until May 24. By now, we should be starting to feel like we have some sense of control, but spontaneity can still catch us off guard, especially when other planets are also transiting OOB. We can benefit from using caution while pushing through any "fast changes" that we encounter. Some original ideas are likely to pop up out of thin air.

As mentioned, Jupiter is near the cusp of Pisces, transiting through the last degree of Aquarius. Jupiter will be in Pisces in a few more days but won't stay in Pisces for very long. Jupiter will return to Aquarius the end of July.

Saturn in Aquarius is forming a square to Uranus in Taurus. We need to work extra hard not to push others away, or force others to think the same way we do. It is our feelings of insecurity that are messing with us. Take the time to put perspective on our accomplishments. Success is not always measured in money and materials. Our friends may be our most valuable assets. Be kind to them so that they know they are valued.

Neptune's sextile to Pluto in Capricorn, is still messing with us. Don't believe everything you are being told. Even the people you trust the most might turn out to be your first source of disinformation. Just because information confirms our own bias does not mean that it is accurate information. When Neptune and Pluto connect up like this, it is not uncommon for some of the craziest of beliefs to suddenly take hold and harm us in ways we would never expect.

We may be feeling a bit wobbly during this new moon since there are no planets in any of the fire element signs. Our strengths will be in our determination, follow-through, but also our ability to adapt and change course.

Meditation for the May 11th New Moon
The naming of some things as important and others as unimportant is only a value judgment, a product of human ego.
