Sun is Cancer, 7° 23'
Moon is Cancer, 7° 23'
Solstice hit our area with a hot weather change. The Pacific NW had been dealing with a lot of rain, excessive rains again, and cool temps. Messed with a lot of local crops, but akin to a faucet, it shut off almost immediately when the solstice arrived, and it has been very hot, ever since. Crazy weather patterns, right?
For this new moon, the Sun and Moon join up in Cancer. Our thoughts tend to shift over to family, home, and childhood memories. Our emotions can feel a little raw, but that might mostly be the square from Jupiter in Aries, rubbing on our memories in a not so positive manner. This shall pass relatively quickly, so try not to let it get the better of us.
Mercury is right at home in Gemini, and if we use it effectively, we can get a lot of planning set up. Mercury is not encumbered by any other planets at this time, and that helps us to approach matters with a clear head.
Venus, also in Gemini, is forming a sextile to Jupiter in Aries. This can, hopefully, open some opportunities, particularly in the matters of relationships and finances. The key to working with Venus is to be willing to adapt or expand on the options presented to us.
Mars in Aries is forming a sextile to Saturn retrograde in Aquarius, and a square to Pluto retrograde in Capricorn. Taking risks may feel like the right option, in the moment, but be ready with a plan B if it backfires. Our energy levels may fluctuate and our health may not be optimum for us during this new moon. We may do better in solo situations, and feel out of place if we have to work in a team. Again, just the nature of the new moon. It should all settle back down in a day or two.
Overall, and on the plus side of the day, is the fact that this new moon chart is quite balanced. There are just as many masculine placements as there are feminine, helping us to find opportunities and reasons for optimism. The planet placements are all well established with at least two in each sign element. The same goes for the qualities in that there are at least two in each mode, although there are five planets in the Cardinal signs, meaning that we may be more assertive and might have higher expectations than typical. But, generally, we are well set up to hit this new moon on a positive note. Just don't expect everyone to share in our enthusiasm, as this truly is a "solo" time for spending the day.
