Sun is Cancer, 18° 02'
Moon is Cancer, 18° 02'
Today's new moon is the first in the season. Depending on where you live in the world, it could be summer or winter. What we all love about the Cancer new moon is the intuitive influence that it brings. We are instinctive in our interactions. We feel the meaning of connection to others, either our biological families, or our "adopted" families of choice. The people who help us to feel safe when around them. Even though the Sun in Cancer may not feel as comfortable in Cancer, as the Moon does, both work together here to form bonds and act as though they are parents, nurturing in their own ways.
The new moon is forming aspects to some of the outer planets. A sextile to Uranus in Taurus and a very loose trine to Neptune retrograde in Pisces. Collectively, this can bring quick awareness or have us slipping in and out of lucid situations. Our imagination may play tricks on us.
The moon is transiting out of bounds (OOB), July 7 into July 11. We tend to feel vulnerable when the Moon is OOB. Preparation can typically help us to feel more in control during these days. There are no other OOB transits. Pluto is transiting Hidek (high declinations) but that's just something we have to learn to adapt to since it is going to be a long standing Hidek transit, as mentioned in an earlier report.
Mercury, in the last degrees of Gemini, where it feels safe and confident, is forming an out of sign trine to Jupiter retrograde in Pisces, and a square to Neptune retrograde, also in Pisces. Trines tend to match Elements together, as in this case, it would be Air, while Squares tend to match Modes/Qualities together, as in this case Mutable. So the inconsistency in this case is that Jupiter is not in an Air sign, which adds tension to the trine aspect, while the square carries more impact and won't be softened by the trine. Mercury, although quite confident in it's ruling sign, may cause us to butt heads with others who don't or won't agree with us. We may feel tricked or duped by another, even though it may not be intentional. It may be better to step over the disagreement for the moment, if possible, and wait for Mercury to slip into Cancer in a day (11th) to readjust our attitudes and approach our concerns from a different direction.
Venus, in Leo, is likely to have us spending money (or risking money) that we may not be able to afford losing. Venus is conjunct to Mars and opposing Saturn retrograde in Aquarius. This is where the not so fun T-square kicks in. The square to Uranus in Taurus throws us the curve balls that we hate swinging at, only to miss by a mile. There's two approaches to this. Either we step back, and refuse to participate or to lean in, and hope to get lucky. The problem is, either choice can cause us to feel frustrated by the outcomes. This is one of those aspects where we need to make a conscious attitude adjustment. Whichever path we choose, needs to be made based on what we are willing to risk losing. There is no "win-win" in this. It is either a win-lose or a lose-lose. Adjust accordingly and move on.
Jupiter is moving back in the sign of Aquarius (the 28th) after the short visit to Pisces. Be aware that a golden opportunity might spring up near July 22, when Venus moves into Virgo. We all know this is counter intuitive because on that day, just as Venus is moving in to Virgo, Jupiter, opposing Venus, will prepare to move into Aquarius. It's a small window of a proactive opposition that may actually be a nice reward, if properly planned for and taken advantage of in the right way. While we don't know who will be "rewarded," just be aware that some lucky individuals will be happy that they made the right decision in that tiny window of opportunity!
Inconjunction/Quincunx aspects are rarely discussed in these reports, but today, let's explore the inconjunct wedge from Mercury (Gemini) to Pluto retrograde (Capricorn) sextile to Neptune retrograde (Pisces) and square back to Mercury. There is a lot of tension in this particular pattern that we should not ignore for the day. Remember earlier on, the recommendation that we should step over situations that we disagree with? This is one of the aspects that pushes us into side stepping for our best interests. The inconjunct between Mercury and Pluto is a warning. As some people would say, a "warning that needs meditation." In other words, we can take our cue from the planets' alignment, or we can suffer for ignoring that cue. 'Nuff said.
Overall, the most positive factor of this chart is the balance between receptives, elements, and qualities. There is a little bit of everything in this one to help us to find a productive, friendly, happy, and rewarding new moon day, if we choose to accept it.
Meditation for the July 10th New Moon
Understanding begins, but does not end, with the act of perception.
