Sun is Libra, 13° 25'
Moon is Libra, 13° 25'

The first new moon of the new season gives us the first clues about what we need to focus on for the next couple of months.

The new moon in Libra typically brings up feelings involving partnerships, relationships, and fairness. All too often, we think of the power dynamics in partnerships; one partner having more control over another. That may well be what we are working through this new moon, with Mars conjunct to the new moon. This new moon may make us more aware of the power dynamics than we understood when the partnership was formed.

There is likely to be some discomfort with this new moon, pushing us to readjust, start in a new direction, or generally, start over. The three quincunx from the new moon stellium to Uranus retrograde in Taurus has the potential to bring change suddenly and without a lot of contemplation. Our decisions are inclined to feel urgent, even though they may not really be all that urgent.

Mercury retrograde continues to interfere with our communication and other forms of contact, such as internet, email, and smart phones. It also has the potential to mess up contracts, travel plans, and items that we are having shipped/mailed. Add in the fact that there are several aspects to Mercury during this new moon. There is one helpful aspect from Jupiter retrograde in Aquarius, but it is not a "soothing" type of aspect. Jupiter's retrograde acts more like Saturn, helping us to rebuild or regroup easier. It does not help us to dodge or avoid consequences. Plus there is the quincunx type wedge from Mercury to Pluto retrograde in Capricorn and Neptune retrograde in Pisces. This is where the challenge pushes on us. Unlike a T-square, in this pattern, Pluto and Neptune are working collaboratively (so to speak) against Mercury. Neptune is masking the true meaning/nature of the challenge, while Pluto is pushing hard to challenge old ways of thinking. This becomes one of those puzzles where we are expected to think outside the box in order to find the solution. We won't like it; we will resist it, and try to push back. Mercury's retrograde interferes in our logic process. Our push back will be matched and, most likely, overpowered.

There are not a lot of aspects in this new moon. That's all the major aspects in this chart, but we should also consider Venus' placement in this chart. Venus is moving into the anaretic degree shortly after the new moon, which will reverberate into this new moon. Planets moving through the anaretic degree always bring a new edge to any chart. There is a sense of urgency associated, to finish up any matters pertaining to that sign in relationship to the planets involved. So the Venus in Scorpio influence will feel more significant today. It is likely to involve financial matters, but could simply be relationships that need extra attention. It might also involve our natural talents needing some extra attention. Regardless, let's factor that into the day until Venus moves into Sagittarius.

Looking outside of this new moon, the only planet/object that we have moving Out of Bounds (OOB) up to this point is the Moon. The Moon transited OOB the last few days of September into October 1. We likely felt emotionally or physically vulnerable during that time, whether from a governmental, or political perspective, to a Covid safety and health perspective, we tend to feel victim to something beyond our control. The whole "my body my control" ideology has different meanings for different reasons, but seems to escalate when there is an OOB planet; be it vaccine rules, abortion rules, or even bicycle helmet rules, that dictate what a person's choices will be. Venus heading into Sagittarius will be OOB starting October 10 through December 7. This long term OOB transit will truly heighten our concerns. Add in the fact that the Moon will be OOB October 10 through October 14, October 24 - 28, and November 7 - 10th, are some of the upcoming OOB bumps that we will need to navigate over all while Venus is OOB. There will be more from the Moon and Mercury before Venus is done transiting OOB.

Overall, this new moon chart is not well balanced. So we are likely to lean or list to one side or the other, feeling out of kilter with the world around us. There are six planets in the Masculine Receptives, which may feel like we need to take charge and fix things, when in truth, we may only make matters worse. Interestingly, all these Masculine placements are in the Air Elements (Libra and Aquarius) with none of them in Fire Elements. The positive factor is that four of the planets are equally distributed across the Water and Earth Elements, bringing in some ballast to the heavy Air placements. The other perspective of the chart is the heavy load of Cardinal and Fixed Modalities. There is only one planet in the adaptable Mutable Mode. So we are likely to feel ambitious to problem solve a situation, we may be one-tracked in the process. We may fail to see our other options. While new moons are important for new beginnings, if we don't use them wisely, we may end up having to regroup and start again on the next new moon. Be certain to think through this one carefully.

Meditation for the October 6th New Moon
In order to taste fully the joys of life, one must have suffered as well.
