Sun is Libra, 23° 53'
Moon is Libra, 23° 53'

To avoid overwhelming with this piece, we will be sticking with just the basics. No Out of Bounds or minor aspects. There is enough intensity in this chart without throwing in the incidentals.

The Sun and Moon join up in Libra for this new moon and this is the "let's all get along" new moon. We lean towards smoothing out ruffled feathers to the point of placating, without really fixing anything. But you know, sometimes, that is exactly what is necessary.

This new moon is involved in a T-square with Mars retrograde in Aries, squared up with Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn in Capricorn (all recently direct motion after their stints as retrograde this summer). All blended together, the challenges to dealing with this T-square is that each planet has its own agenda to represent. What we are likely to experience will be different for each of us, based on our natal charts. But, generally, it will be finding ways to come to terms with our ideals, our values, our beliefs, and how that fits with friends and family that we are close with. Do not be surprised to be told to "bugger off." It's not about us, personally, but about the current times and events. People are simply fed up with not being truly heard. Yet, in truth, that's the nature of generational transitions. Pluto's transit through Capricorn is all about transformation of authority, reputations, and how we are perceived by others who have power over us. Are we remembering that the last time that Pluto transited through Capricorn was during the American Revolution? That was a HUGE upheaval to the world, not just the Americas. So, ponder on that while we continue to adjust and adapt to our current transformation. An interesting study would be to look back at any T-squares to Pluto with other planets in Aries and Libra. Events during those dates would likely feel very similar to today.

How do we deal with this? The answer truly will depend upon each of us. Question one - Who are we trying to control today? Ourselves, or others? Question two - What is our main objective? Question three - What are our main obstacles? If we can truly assess these questions, we will gain a better perspective of where we want to be at this time, next year. It is just that important that we contemplate and be honest with ourselves. We have so much to deal with right now, that we forget to find an objective goal for the future. Even if that goal is to SURVIVE the circumstances, we need to draw on the hope that this new moon can provide.

Ah - Mercury retrograde in Scorpio. This retrograde began on October 14 and ends on November 3. Any US citizen will recognize that this will likely seep into the elections for the US Presidential candidates. This will seep into the SCOTUS appointment. This will seep into all types of US national security issues. We need to steel ourselves to the confusion that is likely to bubble well after November 3. Mercury's retrograde in Scorpio tend to involve deep consideration (reconsideration) to issues that pertain to communication, electronics, and other Mercury-ruled matters. Throw in Scorpio's influence of psychology, taboos, secrets, and mysteries, and we will have a true, full on "who-done-it" to contend with after this is all said and done. Today, Mercury is opposing Uranus retrograde in Taurus. Be prepared for tangents, mis-directions, and generally, events that truly feel out of our control.

Venus in Virgo is forming a wedge pattern (trine) to Jupiter in Capricorn and (opposition) to Neptune retrograde in Pisces. This is going to be with us for a few days. Venus' transit in Virgo tends to cool off our passions and makes us be a bit more analytical within relationships and our creative talents. Not in a bad way, just that we tend to re-assess from a different perspective. Throw in Jupiter and Neptune's retrograde into the mix, and we may notice that we feel a bit like we are in a Deja Vu situation. Don't hide from it. Embrace it as a learning moment or a moment to fix something by approaching it differently. It's a free do-over. An opportunity we don't get very often.

Overall, the majority of planets are in feminine receptives for this new moon. We gain more from being introspective than we gain from being assertive. The majority of the planets are in the Earth element, giving us more foundational support, but that we are not stuck. The key is to take our time assessing. On the other hand, the majority of the planets are in the Cardinal modalities, urging us to change and explore opportunities. Now is an important time to take care of our physical needs. Our health, mental and physical, is very important. Focus on the facts, do the research, and now is not a good time to jump into fads or unproven concepts.

Meditation for the October 16th New Moon
Trust someone not for what they say, but because, like a bridge, you can venture out on them without fear of collapse.
