This new moon is also a rare hybrid solar eclipse in that it will be both a total eclipse and an annular eclipse depending upon location of viewing. If you are lucky enough to get to view the eclipse, make certain to have protective eclipse eyewear. The eclipse will be moving over portions of Western Australia, East Timor, Damar Island and Indonesia. This is Solar Eclipse Saros 129 that originated in the year 1103 in the sign of Libra from the Northern hemisphere and is associated with the 7th nodal family. This particular series is considered to be a transformative influence with the original chart placements tapping in to Uranus and Mars traits.
This new moon is the second new moon in the sign of April this year, and will feel considerably more tense as it is on the Anaretic degree of Aries. We are likely to feel like we are running out of time, instead of feeling like we are just beginning. This eclipse is heading into a sextile with Saturn in Pisces and a square to Pluto in Aquarius. Both outer planets are still motioning direct, and will begin to feel more potent once the Sun moves into Taurus approximately 20 minutes after the peak of the new moon. We should settle into a feeling of calm by that time, allowing us to explore our options better. In other words, it is a "wait for it" connection, if we can.
Mercury, in the sign of Taurus, is moving into a station in preparation to start retrograde motioning a little more than 24 hours after the eclipse. Mercury's retrograde motion in the sign of Taurus can feel unsettling as it seems to impact our personal space more. Our sense of personal security as well as our home space can feel under attack in some form. At this point, Mercury is sextile to Mars in Cancer and conjunct to Uranus in Taurus. At the moment, all three planets are direct motion, helping us to adapt quickly. But once Mercury stations retrograde on the 21st, we will likely start to feel as though we no longer have that same sense of control.
The plus in this eclipse chart is that there are not a lot of harsh aspects to navigate. We can settle in, as soon as the eclipse passes, and we can begin to prepare for the Lunar Eclipse in two weeks. At the moment, with this eclipse, what we are expecting is that leadership will step up and lead, or at least get out of the way in order for new leaders to fill the role. Remember, with any major eclipse, there is likely to be change that we will need to absorb and adapt to, over the next couple of months.
Overall, and thankfully, this eclipse chart reflects balance and adaptability. There are an equal number of receptive placements, giving us the ability to step up as needed, or stand back if warranted. There's a nice balance across the Element signs, as well as the Qualities. The best way to describe this chart is "FUNCTIONAL." We have it, we can do it, we are capable.
