Sun is Scorpio, 2° 00'
Moon is Scorpio, 2° 00'
The original chart for this solar saros series #124 originated on the "adjusted" date of March 12, 1049, basically as 22 degrees Pisces, adding some intensity to the Sun's original eclipse placement because it was not only ruled by Neptune (Pisces) but subruled by Pluto for the decan and duad. There is the possibility of the influence being subtle and/or potentially secretive to protect unethical activities from being discovered. This of course, will carry over into each subsequent eclipse that belongs to the 124 saros series. In other words, don't trust that this eclipse is bringing us positive influences without a lot of personal evolution. The first eclipse chart is being included at the bottom of this page.
Moving into today's solar eclipse event, which is a partial eclipse, the path will be over portions of Europe, Northeast Africa, the Middle East and into West Asia. If you have the opportunity to view the eclipse from one of those regions, ensure that you have the correct type of safety eyewear to protect your vision.
Today's Solar Eclipse astrologically, is occurring in the sign of Scorpio, which, of course, adds a layer of intensity to the event. We should just accept that at least one of our situations is likely to change in ways that makes us uncomfortable. Considering we are working with the Pluto portion of the zodiac, we could assume the worst, but, it might also involve finally letting go of something (or someone) we have resisted releasing up to this point.
The eclipse is conjunct with Venus and this stellium of the eclipse is forming an inconjunction to Jupiter retrograde on the cusp of Aries, which add considerable influence from Mars, the traditional ruler over Scorpio. Jupiter is not so expansive while in retrograde motion, so we are not like to experience a situation that enlarges, but just feels heavier than we anticipate. If our day is feeling like a bit of a bummer, go ahead and blame Jupiter. Thankfully, this bummer feeling should be over within 24 hours.
Mercury is direct motion in Libra, and also forming an inconjunction but to Neptune retrograde in Pisces. Mercury is pulling on a lot of strings today. There's the square to Pluto retrograde in Capricorn, a trine to Saturn in Aquarius, and trine to Mars in Gemini. These all tie back together with the planets listed, and add complexity to whatever we are going to attempt to accomplish today. Not necessarily that things will go wrong, but more that there will be a lot of communication and negotiating necessary to clean up or finish up our project.
Later today, Jupiter will be moving back into Pisces. [Big Sigh.]
Saturn is forming a square aspect to Uranus retrograde in Taurus. Not a clear path in sight. Everything has a consequence and a responsibility attached.
Overall, this eclipse will feel heavy with activties that we are not likely to be very prepared to handle. We should focus on our inner needs more than trying to hold up everyone else. That old saying, we don't do a very good job of helping others if we aren't taking care of ourselves. This is a great time to explore our needs, listen to our intuition, and accept the changes that we are being confronted with.
To those who celebrate, Happy Halloween in a few days.
