Sun is Virgo, 4° 54'
Moon is Pisces, 4° 54'

Today's lunar eclipse will be a partial eclipse, but it will be one of the darker partials as there will be more shadow from the Earth falling over the full moon's light than a typical lunar eclipse. Some are considering this an "almost" lunar tetrad as there were a series of total lunar eclipses the past two years. A tetrad is when there are four sequential total lunar eclipses. There will be a true lunar tetrad (four lunar eclipses in a row) in 2032 and 2033. The last true tetrad was 2014 and 2015. Lunar Tetrads

The lunar eclipse will be visible over the Americas. It will rise over the Pacific Ocean and set over the western portions of Africa and Europe. This eclipse belongs to the saro series 138, which originated on October 25, 1521 while the Sun was in Scorpio and the Moon in Taurus. It belongs to the 10th Nodal family from the North.

The challenges and complexity from the recent Solar Eclipse two weeks ago will carry over into this Lunar Eclipse as there are some more difficult aspects that we need to navigate in order to move forward with confidence. While the earlier eclipse may have been opening up new options, this eclipse will likely close down situations that need to be released so that we can move on. It may be painful. Eclipse seasons are frequently times when we lose important people in our lives. At the same time, we start encountering new faces that bring us new awareness. We tend to be less conscious of the new connections being formed, but they are happening in ways we don't, yet, understand.

The Sun and Mercury are conjunct in Virgo, while opposing the Moon in Pisces. The conjunction and opposition are creating two boomerang yods to Pluto retrograde in Aquarius and Neptune retrograde in Aries. We will likely feel the challenges force us to rethink how we interpret the messages we are receiving from others. We may need to push back on half-truths to force others to own their faults but also to be able to make informed decisions on the facts for ourselves. We can't make reliable choices based on misrepresentations. The whole adage of trust but verify is useless during this eclipse. Don't trust. It is up to us to verify that the information we are using is reliable. The other side of this is feeling stuck due to the lack of trust we are feeling. We need to push that aside. We need to find reliable resources that we can use to help us make worthwhile decisions. If we have been relying on news resources that are biased and only serve to reaffirm our individual perspective, we are setting the stage for cultural failure, as collectively, we are blindly following a source that was definitely designed to deceive us. We may need to question why our trusted resource were, over time, reestablished to mislead. Most likely, the CEO's discovered that by tweaking their format, it was able to make more money off of our fears and attention. If we continue down a path of believing the prejudiced resources, we are setting ourselves up in an unhealthy way. The resources that we used to trust, can have a way of shifting alignments over time for their personal benefit, based on monetization rather than ensuring that we are receiving fair and balanced information. It happens slowly and incrementally.

The combination of yod aspects today are lined up in a way that we begin to see that our priorities are changing, and that we need to adjust in order realign ourselves in the most beneficial way for our personal successes in the future. Virgo's intellect and discernment gives us the advantage to find new, healthier resources. Let's all take advantage of these yods to evaluate our own needs, over the needs of others who may not have our best interests in mind.

The Virgo/Pisces opposition is also forming a T-square to Uranus in Gemini. This one tends to knock our socks off, suddenly, without warning or provocation. Gemini, the sign of communication, local travels, questions, quick learning, sibling rivalry, and never quite feeling settled is dealing with the Uranus transit effect of progressing through sudden innovation, pushing ourselves out there, stepping up to life's challenges, and generally, discovering new ways that are more effective and efficient. Uranus has a gob smacking trait of opening our eyes when we least expect it. Let's not assume this will be a fun and easy awareness. But, a much needed awareness, nonetheless.

Venus in Libra, is moving out of an opposition to Saturn retrograde in Aries. At the same time, Mars in Cancer is moving into a square to Saturn's retrograde. We are less inclined to want to work with these two difficult aspects. The combo is challenging us to reassess our perspective, but in areas of our life that feel particularly sensitive. There will be a layer of vulnerability tied to this one. It may be a legal matter that forces us to confront individuals that we don't want to confront. It may be the splitting of a partnership that has crumbled over time. These two aspects might be forcing us to cut ties with someone or something that we have relied on for years, but now need to take a leap of faith in order to develop new relationships.

The outer planets, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, continue to trine and sextile one another, encouraging all of us, as a community and a collective, to explore our options. This is a slowly developing shift in how we approach the changes and challenges that we are all facing. We all feel it. We all are experiencing it. Problem is that we don't all feel like we are in the same realm. We don't share the same perspectives but are being forced to find a middle ground for survival purposes.

Overall, this lunar eclipse chart is filled with dominant influences. We are feeling extroverted and wanting to break out of the old, outdated, influences that felt confining. There is definitely some "leader" traits that help us prepare for change. But, are we truly prepared to shut the door behind us? Are we willing to blow up a bridge, in order to force ourselves to move forward. There is no easy answer with this one. Most likely, we should take this eclipse as an opportunity to re-evaluate, rather than take decisive and ultimatum actions. But, if our future lives depend on a form of emotional exorcism, this eclipse is a perfectly good time to take that path, as well.

Meditation for the August 28th Lunar Eclipse
Wittgenstein's opening sentence, "The world is everything which is the case," serves as a beginning.
