Sun is Scorpio, 5° 09'
Moon is Taurus, 5° 09'

The full moon in Taurus is opposing the Sun in Scorpio. The full moon is also known as the Hunters' Moon, but of more interest this time is the fact that it is a Lunar Eclipse. This eclipse belongs to the Seventh Nodal Family, associated to the Lunar Saros Series 146, that originated near the North Pole, on July 11, 1843. The original eclipse occurred 18 degrees into Capricorn, giving us a sense of a no-nonsense motivation to accomplish goals that we have recently struggled with. This influence carries over into this particular lunar eclipse. This eclipse will be a partial eclipse and will not turn reddish color, but it is likely to dim to a darker gray during the event. The first total eclipse of this lunar saros series won't occur until May 25, 2366, so not in our lifetimes.

For this specific eclipse, our energies are torn between self-determination and self-concordance. We are struggling with deciding our objectives, while pursuing goals that align with our values. A portion of the problem is that our values are shifting based upon recent events that have shaken us to the core. The irony of a full moon in Taurus is that we discover that our values are closely tied to our financial situation. "If I just had..." [fill in the blank] is almost always something that can be purchased, as opposed to changing our objectives to non-materialistic self-actualization.

The Sun in Scorpio is moving into conjunctions with Mercury and Mars, while Moon is moving into a conjunction with Jupiter in Taurus. Because of the oppositions between Scorpio and Taurus, we find both ease of choices and challenges bubbling up. We are more likely to think we are making a great choice, only to discover that is not the case. We may react too quickly, concluding that we know what just happened, only to learn in a day or two that we had observed an action that had nothing to do with the situation we believed to occur. So, our best actions and decisions in the light of the lunar eclipse, are held back until we can make a more informed choice. The Sun is moving out of a trine to Saturn retrograde in Pisces. This connection has the potential to help us rethink our positions. However, if we are stuck in outdated ideals, we may feel mired within our choice of options.

Venus in Virgo is pushing on us to cool down our curiosity. Others are noticing that we seem less spontaneous, but that's the basic nature of Virgo to pull back on quick decisions/actions. We seem to be over thinking our feelings rather than just allowing ourselves to experience them. Venus is trine to Uranus retrograde in Taurus. This connection, indirectly, ties Venus back into Neptune retrograde in Pisces and Pluto in Capricorn through a series of sextiles that have us going through a generational transition. It's never a clear cut transition when Pluto, Neptune and Uranus are all working collectively (although not in an organized fashion) to push out each unique trait associated with those planets. These traits will feel unusual or foreign to us, since we don't typically get to experience the three outer planets expressing themselves simultaneously. Despite having Venus involved, human nature is to resist until we have a better sense of how these changes will impact us.

The eclipse will feel very one-sided since all the planets are located in the feminine receptive. In other words, all the planets are posted today in the Earth and Water signs. So, we will either be quick to boil, or basically simmer over situations that are out of our control. Most likely simmer, since six of the planets are in Fixed signs and only three are in Mutable signs. The two signs with the most planets are Taurus and Scorpio, so we may be easily tipped, one way or the other, feeling like we have no control over the direction we go. With the lunar eclipse in the mix today, we are likely to struggle to figure out what is the right choice. Our gut may want something totally different than our brain want. In truth, this may be a good sign, as decisions made too quickly typically fail to consider all the very important factors that also need to be considered.

Meditation for the October 28th Lunar Eclipse
Learning when to let go and allow things to happen on their own is indeed a practiced art.
