New Moon

Sun is Taurus, 25° 58'
Moon is Taurus, 25° 58' The Taurus new moon is wedged in between two full moons happening in the month of May. Regardless of this, the new moon stands strong, almost in defiance of the unusual nature of the blue moon set up. Taurus traits tend to encourage us to think in terms of safety, control, and on occasion, being a stick in the mud of self determination. Mercury's conjunction to the new moon adds a sense of self-reliance, also. Mercury has moved past the Sun, and that is always an indication, in the near future, we will be experiencing a Mercury retrograde transit period (starting the end of June). Today, Mercury is centrally placed between Venus in Gemini and Mars in Aries. Mercury is, effectively, acting as a mediator for these two placements. Not that there is an argument between Venus and Mars, but more like there's a discussion going on, that Mercury is listening in on. The discussion most likely involves our need for safety, protection from the unknown, and perhaps, even, what changes we need to be making to prepare for unexpected events. Transits through Taurus are always good reminders that practice prepares us to face events that might, otherwise, cause us to freeze in fear. Knowing what we need to do to remain safe, and how much time we need in order to accomplish it safely, gives us the advantage. Never assume that we know how much time we will need. Practice with a stopwatch/timer to really know the realistic time frame. Uranus is definitively in the sign of Gemini for the long haul. No more short trips back into Taurus. Uranus will transit Gemini, solely, until July, 2032. Plus, for now, Pluto in Aquarius is trine to Uranus. This can be one of those "revealing" periods that uncover the need for change. When we realize that "this point" means years of transition, we recognize that it will be transformative. The perspectives that tend to be revealed may take us by surprise. Adapting to the changes may involve realizing that our past beliefs may need to shift, not because they were wrong, but because events in today's reality no longer align with the older ideas that worked for us in the past. Neptune in Aries is also involved in the transformation alliance between Uranus and Pluto. Neptune has the tendency to add mystery or confusion to the mix. Neptune will be transiting in the sign of Aries now for about 12 years, with no more trips back into Pisces. Collectively, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto will be working together to make some lifestyle changes for all of us. Overall, the planets are set up in a way to help us make productive decisions. What we may lack is the ability to emotionally connect with others who don't share our perspectives. Six planets are in the masculine receptives, indicating that we are wanting to act in our own self interest or in the interests of our familial clan. However, each of us are inclined to covet our own values over the values of others around us. Not necessarily open to new ideas, regardless of how those ideas may actually benefit us.
