New Moon
in: Virgo 0° August 23, 2025 @ 06:06 am GMT August 22, 2025 @ 11:06 pm PDT -7
Sun is Virgo, 0° 23'
Moon is Virgo, 0° 23' The Sun just moves into Virgo when the Moon joins up for the new moon. Attitudes can shift quickly on the Sun's ingress to a new sign, and today will highlight that quick change in the darkness of the new moon. The new moon is forming a yod that will also accentuate the influences of Virgo in our lives. The Sun and Moon are inconjunct to Pluto retrograde in Aquarius, and inconjunct to Saturn and Neptune retrogrades in Aries. Time to shake loose the negativity that we might have from earlier in the month, and get prepared to take on some new honesty that's likely to confront us now that Virgo is on the front door. While many might perceive Virgo to be delicate and meek, that's just a persona. Virgo can be a fierce advocate for individuals who can't fight for themselves. The yod of inconjuncts to Saturn, Neptune and Pluto, all in retrograde motion, will highlight this strength, and in less than a month, when the Moon moves back to this point, we will be reminded of the significance of the lessons we will be learning during this new moon. Mark the calendar for September 19, to reflect on the lessons learned today. Venus will also be moving into Virgo on that day, and it will be just a few days prior to the September Equinox. The new moon is square to Uranus in Gemini. Events can change quickly when Uranus is involved. New opportunities, or, at the very least, new awareness that may have been confusing until now. Time to step out of old, unhealthy habits, and use Virgo's traits to transition into newer, healthier habits. Now that Mercury is quickly moving out of last month's retrograde shadows, we are getting back on track with all things technology, communication, and travel. Two more days, and Mercury will be free of the retrograde shadows. As for today, Mercury is sextile to Mars in Libra. The key to this aspect is to take in new information without opinion. That's easier said than done, but it is important to keep an open mind today. It does not mean we have to believe, nor does it mean we need to ignore it. Give new information time to settle in order to see the bigger picture that will arrive in a few more days. Venus, in the final degrees of Cancer is making an out of sign point of a Cradle Pattern aspect involving Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. When Venus moves into Leo, on August 25, this aspect pattern will carry more weight. For now, it's in a "building" point. Interesting to see that the New Moon in Virgo, and a full sign plus a few degrees ahead of Venus, is also making connections to all these other planets, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. The new moon gets all the attention, and Venus is in the background, for the moment. All in all, life changes should settle in quickly after this new moon. There is a nice balance of planetary placements throughout this chart. We should be able to make good decisions, without feeling like we are out of options. The challenges are not too heavy to deal with. We can be skeptical while also being open minded, thankfully, and that gives us time to step back, or forward, as necessary, in order to make the best choices for our situation. The next full moon will be the Harvest Moon, and a Lunar Eclipse, followed by a Solar Eclipse two weeks later. In the meanwhile, we will be noticing the shift of power that the Eclipse seasons always bring. Meditation for the August 23rd New Moon
The greatest achievement of a truly ambitious person may be simple kindness.
