People in the United States are all excited with this solar eclipse event! But, don't forget that portions of Mexico and Canada will also get to experience the total eclipse. Even if an area you are at, during the eclipse, is only getting a partial eclipse, it is important to wear protective eye glasses that are designed to protect the sun from damaging your vision. This eclipse belongs to the saros solar series of 139 that originated May 17, 1501, 5 degrees of Gemini, ruled by Mercury, sub-ruled by Mercury and sub-sub-ruled by the Moon, giving us plenty of thoughts to ponder while looking back at past events. This eclipse will be number 30 of the 71 eclipses in this series. It belongs to the 8th nodal family and originated from the northern hemisphere. The last time this saros series occurred was March 29, 2006. The next time it will occur is April 20, 2042. Solar eclipses in Aries typically help influence action and a desire to initiate a plan. We are finding a focus, also, that helps us to hone in on an objective. But we could easily be persuaded to change our minds.

The Sun in Aries has us moving more quickly through life, as Mercury retrograde in Aries tries to get us to slow down or risk dealing with a lot of mishaps, and Venus, also in Aries, seems to want us to push the pedal to the metal! Pluto in Aquarius is sextile to Venus, accentuating our desire to leave behind the past and look for a change of scenery.

The Pluto sextile to Neptune in Pisces is out of sign, with less significance to the aspect in our daily lives, but we may be dreaming some really chaotic dreams, nonetheless.

Mars and Saturn are connecting in Pisces. We may be feeling restless as we try to come to terms with resentments or passive aggressive behaviors from others. Saturn tries to get us to come to terms with these interactions, especially the ones that leave us confused.

Jupiter is pushing into Uranus territory in the sign of Taurus. Unexpected changes are likely to feel larger than we know what to do with. Our best option, as Jupiter expands situations, is to step back to reassess, take the opportunity to break objectives into smaller, more manageable processes.

The receptive placements of this chart are balanced with an equal number of masculine and feminine placements. This will work to our advantage as we are less likely to push too hard, and less likely to just wait for a turn. One element that this chart is low on is the Air sign, meaning that indecision could threaten our decision making process. But the modalities of the chart may compensate as we have another nice balance across all three qualities. We should be able to evaluate with good judgment, as long as we don't rush. With Mercury retrograde still in effect, we really should reflect on our choices before making a final decision.
