Apologies that this piece is late. Still catching up with the new year after losing power for several days during the last week of December. Nonetheless, happy new year!

The Wolf Full Moon is the January moon in Cancer while opposing the Sun in Capricorn. We tend to feel eager and ambitious while tapping into our emotions that pertain to family and home. Transiting through the second decans of the signs, may amplify our materialistic side, with a focus on money while also potentially accentuating our creative sensitivities in ways that cause us to feel less productive. With the Sun forming a conjunction to Mercury retrograde, we may tend to reflect more on issues that we can't fix, but we can potentially use this to help us change behaviors. The full moon is forming a wedge to Uranus retrograde in Taurus. We may discover that this is not the right time to make sudden changes. Planning is the better option allowing us time to reflect and review before making any permanent decisions.

Mercury retrograde in Capricorn will last until January 18, when it will station direct without leaving Capricorn. While many people like to purchase new items at the beginning of the new year, we might do better to wait until after January 18 to look at those sale prices.

Venus in Aquarius is trine to Mars retrograde in Gemini. While normally we would expect relations of the heart to ignite during a Venus and Mars trine, but while Mars is retrograde, we may need to revisit potential relationships/friendships later in the year to get that spark ignited properly. Relationships formed while Mars is retrograde are more inclined to be "unrequited" and less than satisfactory. If the spark is there during the next Venus to Mars trine, we will be much more satisfied with having waited.

Venus is sextile to Jupiter in Aries. This can be a good time to get together with friends to party or relax and just talk about topics that interest us.

Mars will continue to retrograde in Gemini until January 12. We've been struggling with reduced energy during Mars' long retrograde in Gemini for several months now, and we know that some of our vitality will start returning in about a week.

Overall, this first full moon of the new year is one that can help us to solve problems by being patient and avoiding impatience. The only area in this chart that will feel Low is the single planetary placement in the element of Fire. So our enthusiasm may feel a bit watered down, but does does not mean we are not enthusiastic about what we may do in a few days. Simply that we have time to think about situations before we act on them.
