2025 September Autumn Equinox

The September Equinox is, basically, the fourth season of the calendar year, while the December Solstice ends the year, but also starts the new year. In the northern hemisphere, this season is fall, as daylight shrinks and night darkness grows. On the inverse, this is spring for the southern hemisphere, where daylight grows, as night darkness shrinks.

This September Equinox, in conjunction with the Solar Eclipse the day before, is bringing in a range of changes to our lives that will push us out of our comfort zone. The Yod configuration involving Mars, Uranus and Neptune is one factor. The Grand Trine with Kite involving the Sun, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto is another factor. Add in the Trapezoid configuation that looks like a trash can around the Kite which doesn't even have a pattern name because it is so rare, and we are going to be experiencing some big surprises for the next few months. You might also consider reading the Solar Eclipse report as many of the aspects of that chart will carry over into this Equinox chart.

Rather than get into the aspect patterns at the start, let's just focus on the potential impacts of this particular Equinox. On the plus side, we will be given some new tools for navigating the changes that we are likely to experience. Our old trusty coping skills may help, but we may discover that they are less effective based on the changing dynamics. Unfortunately, using new coping methods will feel unnatural, and feel as though they are a hindrance because we have little experience in using them. They feel unnatural simply because of our lack of experience. We don't know if we can trust these new methods, causing us to feel insecure. The changes coming at us quickly are likely to add extra strain onto our vulnerable mental health. This has the potential to push us into unhealthy coping methods, only adding to the overwhelming strain. We will be expected to "trust the process" while feeling as though all viable options are out of our reach. Yah, not fun. New Tools, Yay. No Trust, Ugh.

Now, for those who want the aspect details. The most positive feature of this Equinox chart is that most of the aspects are "in sign" connections that truly help the planets work with one another. The dynamics of the Grand Trine and the Kite function as they should. The Grand Trine is Air, and the Kite is Masculine (Air with Fire focal). These aspect patterns are all about adaptability and taking charge of how we adapt. The Neptune retrograde, though, as the "leader" of the making change happen successfully, could be rather confusing, as Neptune has the trickster features, especially while retrograde. Events and situations that should feel straightforward with just about any other planet, are likely to feel confusing and unclear, with Neptune at the helm. We may, actually, find some of the answers while we sleep. Journal the dreams when we wake up. While awake, watch for synchronicity types of events, and record those as well. Collectively, we are likely to figure it all out this season, but it just won't be a clear, quick, concise solution.

Unlike the Solar Eclipse chart, the Sun has moved into Libra, and Mars has moved into Scorpio, helping to clarify the "reasons" for our questions. This is particularly true for the Finger of God Yod from Mars to Neptune retrograde in Aries and Uranus retrograde in Gemini. What this aspect pattern does is to set up a form of "timer" based on when the following planets, (behind Mars) transit over the cusp of Scorpio. Mark these dates on the calendar for potential answers or clarity to concerns that we seem to be struggling to understand within the moment. The Yod has a built in timer when the fastest planet of the three is located at the apex, in this case Mars. Planets that subsequently move over that apex point will trigger information releases until the apex planet returns to this point. Since Mars is not one of the speediest of the "fast" planets, it will be a couple of years before it returns, meaning that each time the Moon transits over this point for the next two years, there will be another dribble of information surfacing. A quick summary, the moon will move over this point at least once per month starting September 24, with more significant contacts from Mercury (October 6 and September 30, 2026), the Sun (October 23), Venus (November 6 and October 23, 2026) before Mars returns September 2, 2027. Yes, basically two whole years of triggering transits. It will be interesting to see how this will all play out. And just what will "This" be? Mars has many different characteristics that it brings up for us, but one of them is will power. Another is personal courage. Mars is also known as the Lord of Animals and God of War, just to name a few. This placement in Scorpio adds the other factor of how the influence of Mars is likely to manifest which can be anything from sexual taboos to physical death. There is the potential for finding new money resources or insight into the hidden meanings of the mystic. Take the time to learn more about Mars and Scorpio to better understand how this might play out in our personal lives. Just try not to assume the worst as the nature of Scorpio and Mars are not always in the negative.

The overall summary of this Equinox is that there will likely be some significant changes in our lives, in our point of view, and reassessment of our lives will come with that. Where we are likely to feel the most "off kilter" are in the areas of motivation and dependability. The Earth and Fire signs are not able to sustain themselves under the weight of the placements in Air and Water signs within this chart. Now, this does not mean we will always lack these traits throughout the new season, but simply that we will, most likely, start out this way. We will get them back, in time, and that will give us the necessary wherewithal to finish up the season with more answers than we started with.
