The June Solstice is the start of the Summer Season for the Northern Hemisphere and the Winter Season for the Southern Hemisphere. The Sun moving into this quadrant of the zodiac typically heightens our interests towards family ties, expanding on our loyalty, and concern for health matters. There are plenty of planetary connections that will accentuate various needs for us this season.

The Sun on the cusp of Cancer is sextile to the Moon on the cusp of Taurus, spurring empathy for others who are feeling despair based on actions we may consider to be inappropriate. We are likely to express our concerns for the inhumanity of it. The Sun's sextile to Mars in Virgo encourages us to take action based upon our emotions. Jupiter's conjunction to the Sun in Cancer also “expands” on these feelings. But, while all these are pushing on us to act, Saturn and Neptune's square from Aries might be discouraging us from actually taking any action, out of fear, confusion, or the simple realization that there will be consequences. It will be important to think through our concerns, our visions, as well as the probable repercussions before taking action. Now, this doesn't mean avoiding action as the only solution. The planets are giving us guidance to explore the best options for our situations.

The Moon for this solstice is in Taurus, trine to Mars in Virgo and square to Pluto in Aquarius. Finding the courage behind our actions feels so much easier as we head into the new season. The Moon's transit through Taurus accentuates our desire for safety and security, but it also amplifies our personal privileges and wealth. Being able to express that, in order to help others who don't have it, is likely to become quite apparent. The few individuals who have the most-est of all things, security, wealth, and privilege, want us to blame the people with the most need for their situations of not having safety and security. Yet in truth, insecurities, like lack of housing, lack of food, lack of transportation, or even lack of options, is rarely a singular fault of the individuals stuck within those deficits. We see this much more clearly when the Moon transits through Taurus. The Moon's connections to Mars and Pluto help us to help others so that others can be supported, and we can learn more about acceptance despite differences.

This Solstice has two yods that intersect. Pluto in Aquarius is the apex of quincuxes from Jupiter in Cancer and Mars in Virgo, challenging us to find new ways to transform our lives. Then, there is a yod with Mars as the apex of quincunxes from Pluto as well as from Saturn and Neptune in Aries. This one may feel more frustrating as our health, work habits, and desires for honesty are likely to feel challenged by the slower planet influences of Saturn, Neptune and Pluto. The Mars transit encourages us to fight, but what is the right way to fight?

Based on the planetary placements of this Solstice, we are likely to find our strengths bubbling from within. We are motivated to maintain our status quo, while supporting others so that they can survive without fear. What we seem to lack within this Solstice is feelings of flexibility and the ability to adapt easily. It is not that we can't adapt. We are likely to change based on pushing through, or back, or away from situations that are not useful or tolerable. We may need to utilize tactics that worked in the past, in order to assure that we are not trapped by the extremes that pressure us to conform.
