Sun is Sagittarius, 23° 08'
Moon is Sagittarius, 23° 08'
This new moon is a total solar eclipse in the sign of Sagittarius. The Gemini lunar eclipse leading into this eclipse helps amplify the action orientation of this eclipse. We want to fix a situation that has been slowing us down. It has taken us some time to get to this point of understanding what it is that needs to be fixed. This solar eclipse originated on April 17, 1624, in the sign of Aries (ruled by Mars) in the third decan sub-ruled by Jupiter and the 11th duad sub-ruled by Neptune. As Rose Lineman described it, this series of eclipses stresses "incentive and action." The eclipse belongs to the solar saros series 142. The eclipse will be visible over the Southern Pacific, South America, the Antarctica, and the Southern Atlantic. The two countries that will be able to observe the totalness of the eclipse will be portions of Chile and Argentina. If you are able to view the eclipse in person, be certain to wear the correct type of eye protection. Sun glasses are not enough.
This eclipse is also forming a conjunction (stellium) with Mercury in Sagittarius. Today, our beliefs and values are likely to be interwoven with science and art. It is a great time to do the research to connect the dots. Believing someone else, for the sake of ease, is likely to have a negative effect on our future.
The eclipse stellium is forming a trine to Mars in Aries and a square to Neptune in Pisces. Blending all these influences together is likely to leave us feeling somewhat confused. We are likely to feel inclined to do the grunt work for a cause, only to eventually realize that we have been deceived at some level. Focus on the true needs of ourselves today. This will be a great day for meditation and self-reflection. Then, in a day or two, get back to finding ways to help others who need assistance. In the Sagittarius influence, today's self-reflection should be on our spiritual well being, not on physical or material desires. Unfortunately, most of us won't even get much time to do the necessary self-reflection as we bounce from one distraction to the next. It may be necessary to literally schedule the time for ourselves today.
Venus, in Scorpio, is forming sextiles to Saturn and Jupiter in Capricorn. Relative to finances and interpersonal relations, we are feeling fairly stable, although it may not be lasting. If we are out of work or out of benefits, this is the best time to be looking at other resources as they will be easier to obtain now rather than waiting. If possible, stock up for at least two weeks worth, since these resources are fleeting and inconsistent.
Mars in Aries is moving into a square with Pluto in Capricorn. We may be easily triggered with a reaction that is not our normal nature. This could cause others to distance themselves from our outburst. This may also cause a new level of distrust from others. Our rationale for our reaction may not seem sincere or acceptable. Best to be aware of the situation and step back rather than over react.
As most of us know, Jupiter and Saturn will be forming a rare Christmas Star conjunction on December 21/22 when they form an exact conjunction in the sign of Aquarius They will not only be at the same degree in Aquarius, they will also be at almost the same declination (similar to a solar eclipse). They are already forming a conjunction in Capricorn, with Saturn at 29 degrees (Anaretic degree) and Jupiter just minutes from also being anaretic. When planets are transiting through the Anaretic degree of a sign, there is an added sense of urgency to complete projects that are influenced by that particular sign. In the case of Capricorn, it is likely to be an urgent desire to clean up or clear our reputation with cohorts. Another option might be to tie up loose ends relative to our careers. Saturn will ingress (move into) Aquarius again on December 17, while Jupiter will ingress Aquarius on December 19. A Christmas report special for the Saturn and Jupiter reports in Aquarius is now available. Report Sale Page
The Out of Bounds (OOB) moon transits were December 1 through the 4th. It's been a month since the US election that seemingly won't die down anytime soon. The other top news was the Covid-19 vaccine being delivered to the UK before the US had even approved it for use. Hunter Biden investigation was bubbling to the surface, which had a ripple effect. Again, and again, the OOB transits tend to leave an unsettled feeling for many. People already suffering from bouts of anxiety tend to feel more anxious during the OOB transits. The next Moon OOB will be December 15 through 17th. The Moon OOB will also be occurring during the next full moon through to the end of the year.
The December Solstice is slated for December 21 along with that Christmas Star. The longest "night" for the northern hemisphere and the shortest night for the southern. The closer one lives to the equator, the less impact this will have. However, the farther north or south from the equator, the more impact this will have. Some regions near the Arctic will have only an hour or two of sunlight, while regions near the Antarctic will have almost 24 hours of sunlight.
The only major retrograde planet at the moment is Uranus in Taurus. There are no major aspects to Uranus, and as such, will have less influence on us.
While most eclipses tend to add intensity to our lives, there are typically ways to navigate through them with minimal negative impacts. One of the positive features of this new moon eclipse is the fact that there is a balance between the receptive placements of the planets. There are the same number of masculine receptive placements as there are feminine. This is a huge help in giving us equal parts of logic and intuition. Another way to look at it is an equal number of assertive and nurturing placements. The high and lows of the day should not feel quite so extreme. This also means that the qualities and the elements of the signs are fairly balanced. The Air Element will be the only one with limitations which could impact our decision-making process. Still plenty of other options to allow us to make wise decisions.
